Dr. Gabriel Zada, MD

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Zada. He’s helped several of my family members navigate several health issues over the years with care and expertise. He is always available when there are questions, concerns or uncertainties and prides himself on being accessible and thorough. He has brought me peace of mind on many occasions and has remained available when I needed questions answered or a second opinion. I truly can’t recommend Dr. Zada enough and wish more doctors and surgeons operated with the same level of etiquette and care that he does!

At age 35, I had an emergency craniotomy to remove a golfball-sized meningioma tumor that was resting on my optic nerve. It happened at Christmas time, when availability was a total nightmare, but I was so incredibly fortunate to be referred to Dr. Zada, who did what all the other surgeons said couldn't be done in a single operation, and in half the time they said it would take. I was suffering from mystery symptoms (migraines/swimmy vision) for a full year before this surgery, but I haven't had a single headache since. Not one. Not even in the recovery process, which is unusual, I've heard. I went home 2 days post-op, and that night, I did a load of laundry. Soon I was driving my car. I felt like a total badass, slaying brain surgery like that, but really it was all Zada and his A-team. Thank you, Dr. Zada! My gratitude knows no bounds. Any patient of yours is a fortunate one, and I am so thankful for your kindness, skill, and dedication. You saved my brain.

Dr. Zada saved my life numerous times while I was under his care. He personally did all of my brain surgeries during my 6 months in the hospital and a few times came in the middle of the night to check on me or perform an urgent needed surgery. Without his care and tact I wouldn't be here today. I wouldn't recommend any other Dr. in the LA area. He is very professional in attitude and caring in nature.

I am a caregiver and have worked with Dr. Zada on several patients. He is warm hearted and caring and really listens. I have found him to be thorough and extremely competent. I will not take a patient to any other neurosurgeon in LA. He has also helped me with really god referrals if the patient situation falls outside his scope of practice. I appreciate Dr. Zada beyond words!

Dr. Zada is an exceptional doctor, surgeon, and human being. He has been my father’s neurosurgeon for the past 8 years. My father had an extremely rare type of pituitary carcinoma tumor that had left him debilitated. He lives out of state and when it became clear that he needed a specialist, we were referred to Dr. Zada. We were extremely impressed with him from day one when he spent a significant amount of time with us carefully reviewing my father’s case and performing his own evaluation all while treating my father with extreme kindness and respect. It was very clear to my entire family that he was the doctor we wanted to care for my father. That proved to be the best decision we could have ever made. My dad went home and packed a bag and came to Los Angeles to be treated. Dr. Zada performed a craniotomy to remove my father’s tumor which saved his life as well as his eyesight. His tumor was wrapped around the optic nerve and Dr. Zada masterfully removed it without… damaging the optic nerve, therein saving his sight. Dr. Zada then formulated a follow up treatment plan with radiologists for his radiation treatments and coordinated appointments with the endocrinologist as was needed. We were never left to just figure out what to do next – Dr. Zada guided us through. He always made himself available to us for counsel or questions. He was unlike any doctor we had ever experienced. Dr. Zada was very proactive with follow up appointments and MRI’s with my father and staying on top of his care. It is because of this diligence, that two years later when additional tumors appeared in a different area of his brain, Dr. Zada found them early and was able to remove them which once again, saved my father’s life – as they were malignant and would have spread very quickly. My father has traveled back and forth from Oklahoma to Los Angeles over the past 8 years – multiple times a year – as he remains a patient of Dr. Zada's to this day. Gratefully, these appointments are now simply annual check-ups thanks to the excellent care and treatment he received from Dr. Zada. My father's tumors are gone and he is thriving....at 80 years old! We cannot express enough how grateful we feel to have found Dr. Zada and I would recommend him to anyone without any reservation. As I said at the beginning, he is exceptional.

I had been having falls and difficulty balancing and finally stumbled on a slight rise in the sidewalk, landing on my nose. In Emergency they said the good news was I did not have a broken nose but the bad news was I had “moderate Hydrocephalus” and should see a neurologist. The first one in my HMO I saw was not very helpful but he sent me to a neurosurgeon. That doctor seemed near retirement age and rather abrupt. He told me the surgery to place a shunt was relatively easy, however at the end of the appointment he verbally listed all the “complications”, like a legal disclaimer, which included “blindness, paralysis and death”. This did not encourage me. As a result I waited three more years until my extreme lack of balance and urinary issues were making life miserable both for me and my husband. Finally I got an approved referral to USC Keck and I am so glad. The neurologist there said right away that they could take care of this—not a big deal. When I met Dr. Zada, after… preliminary tests, I immediately felt comfortable and in good hands. He is very attentive, warm and confident. He explained everything clearly about the shunt surgery and made us feel comfortable. I was very happy with the whole USC Keck team. The positive results were immediate within two days and I couldn’t be happier. I just wish I had known about USC Keck sooner! I recommend it and Dr. Zada wholeheartedly.

In 2010 I had my first seizure at that time when I had fell out I didn't know what it was I thought it was because I hadn't eating anything so I didn't go to the Dr to see what it was, then 7 months later in Feb 2011 I had fell out twice in a matter of 4 hours and my family who was with me said it looked like I was having a seizure so my son called paramedics and they came and rushed me to a local hospital well after taken a variety of test the ER Dr. Came in my room and said I have a tumor growing on my brain but that they didn't do that type of surgery there so they sent me to county USC hospital where DR. GABRIEL ZADA and from the first time I met him he was so professional but yet so kind and caring and after talking to him I knew that had sent me to the right place to get that tumor removed and after the operation I remember that night when he came in my room and woke me up and asked if I was hungry and I said I'm starving and he told the nurse to hook me up with as much as I want… to eat but I was in no pain after the surgery and had to ask did he already do it but I thank God for Dr. ZADA who treated me like I was special to him as if he knew me for years and I recommend anyone who needs that type of surgery done to go to Dr Zada.

My dad was diagnosed with a tumor in his brain a month ago. Prior to the surgery, Dr. Zada assured us that the risk of death or serious complications was minimal. He also told us that the surgery would take approximately 5 to 6 hours. My dad ended up coming out in great shape within just about 4 hours! At 72 yo, my dad is now functioning as good as before. I'm so grateful that Dr. Zada has saved my dad's life. I'm also very impressed with his professionalism, confidence and firmness when he offers medical advice to stubborn patients like my dad!

i had 3 tumors, 1 on my pituitary gland, and 2 internal portions of my brain, Dr Zada successfully removed the one on my pituitary, and 1 of the 2 internal to my brain, a colloid sis quite large, the 3rd one has not changed from time of diagnoses, so no treatment yet, i owe my life to Dr Zada, he is my hero, and a wonderful person, most professional Dr i have ever met, with the best bedside manors,office, and just general talk manors , he deserves to be recognized for all that he has done for all his patients.

The scariest time of my life and I felt I was in the right hands :-)
