Dr. Gail Denise Brown, MD

The on-call doctor never returned my calls. Even when I wound up in the ER, the on-call doctor never called the emergency room doctors. I had surgery 2 days ago, and I cannot be released from the ER without Dr Brown, or her on-call doctor giving the all clear. I'd settle for just a returned call.

This was the worst delivery experience ever. She gave me no options, would become extremely frustrated and even said "well you are a large woman". She yelled at me while delivering my baby (very first pregnancy ). After having 3 kids now, I know this was all wrong! I can't believe she's a doctor!

I met this doctor one time before my delivery. Other than that I saw her wonderful nurse practitioner. I was in labor for 42 hours all together, and apparently that was too long for her. Dr. Brown came into my room at 7:00am and said, "I've been on all weekend, and I'm off at 1:00. I want to get home and hug my kids. I think it's time to go ahead with a C-Section." This is after I had made it very clear that I wanted a vaginal birth. The C-Section wasn't medically necessary, it was what was convenient for her. I told her again that I wanted a vaginal birth, and that I would be fine if she wanted to call which ever of her partners was on call. (At this point all they had to do is catch) But I was told she didn't want to interrput her partners' Sunday. So she stayed. During the delivery a nurse mentioned that I would probably tear and they should maybe do an episiotmy. Dr. Brown's response was, "Oh yeah, she's gonna tear." Well, I did tear and quite badly. After I was home… and thought I should probably be healed, I finally got so tired of the pain I went back to see her. My vaginal hood was completely separted and a large piece was hanging off, making it very difficult to walk without pain, and nearly impossible to run. I told her my concerns and she took a look. I asked if that piece could be removed so that I could walk comfortably again. Her response was, "So you just don't like how it looks" Keep in mind I had a baby 4 weeks prior.... at that point I couldn't care less what I looked like. I hated that I found myself frustrated with my baby when I had to walk to her bed and get her....I felt like a horrible mother. After that she said that something else was going on and she wanted to test me for herpes. I explained that while I was unmarried I'd been with the same man for nearly 10 years. Her response again wasn't terribly pleasant. She said, "Well, you don't know who he's been with." Now do you say that to a new mother?.... It turned out that of course I didn't have herpes....when I saw another OB she said that Dr. Gail Brown had stitched me up so poorly that my vagina was now ulcerated. I live with her careless mistakes everyday of my life, I am in pain often. Not serious pain, but certainly noticable pain....and yes, now I do care how it looks. I would love to tell her how she has effected my relationship. I am willing to take some of that blame. There are lots of OBs and she's the one I chose. That part's my fault.
