Dr. Gail Davidson, MD

Dr Davidson missed my Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I have discovered through genetic testing, that I have a mutation on my COL3A1 gene that causes my body to make defective collagen in every cell. I was complaining of unstable joints, widespread joint hypermobility, and pain. I have a score of 5/9 on the Beighton scale, with other hypermobile joints but she said I was only "slightly hypermobile" I have translucent, thin skin, a few eye problems, and lots of other odd EDS comorbidities that in hindsight really stand out as abnormal; some Doctor should have picked up on it, especially the ones I saw for pain... She said I had "anxiety" frequently. I sometimes would go to my car after seeing her, and cry because I felt so dejected. I finally got a referral for lifelong pain and joint issues, and this specialist Doctor I was waiting to see for months, who I prayed would help me and figure it out, would downplay my symptoms regularly. A genetic test found this collagen gene mutation by… accident, prior to that I did start to believe that I was anxious and some kind of hypochondriac due to downplaying symptoms and blaming me for them by every Doctor I saw. I had stopped seeking treatment for years. I was not "anxious", I was experiencing symptoms of autonomic dysfunction. EDS is one of the most painful disease conditions a human being can suffer from, there is no cure, and it can be fatal in some cases. I am disappointed that I couldn't get an accurate diagnosis or compassion for my very real symptoms from this Doctor.
