Students in her clinic saw her not teach any psychiatry but spend a lot of time talking about making thousands of dollars speaking for companies (drug companies?) and how she would buy a new horse with the money. The students were terrified because they weren't being told how to talk to the suicidal kids and were the ones spending real time with the kids. She would bring inpatient kids into meeting, spend only a few minutes asking them how they were, and send them out, turning to the assistants and say "increase the meds". it seemed like there was no other approach than "increase the meds." There was much more nuance and teaching in literally every other student rotation/specialty. I heard later that one of her patients wasn't being watched and hanged himself or herself with a bedsheet. She failed to recognize symptoms of PTSD in her student after the student was in a horrific car accident and instead gave the student a bad review for not being perfect.
