Dr. Galen R Ebert, DO

Expect 2-3 hours in there. Very slow. The staff are nice dr. Ebert not so much. No personality at all. Doesn’t keep up with blood work. Misdiagnosis. Doesn’t really seem to care or want to look into the problems. My daughter needed an mri. I had to argue with him to get it. He said “ do you realize how much that costs?!” I knew I needed to change doctors but until I got a new doctor I didn’t realize just how terrible dr ebert was. Do not recommend to anyone.

Dr. Ebert lacks empathy and bedside manner. He is not at all caring or a good listener. He dismissed my father’s back pain as gas when in reality he had kidney stones so severe that the surgeon that had to perform emergency surgery said he was only a few hours away from full blown renal failure. He also prescribed my mother a blood pressure medication that was leaching potassium from her heart and causing her to blackout. When these blackouts were brought to his attention he dismissed them and said he didn’t have enough information to make a diagnosis and sent her home. She was later told by her obgyn before a hysterectomy that her potassium was so low that she would have a heart attack on the operating table if they didn’t postpone her surgery. Overall, Dr. Ebert is an incompetent and uncaring doctor. I wouldn’t take my dog to his office.

Do not go to this doctor. In my opinion, I think he needs to retire because he never listens to the patient. All he does is write the whole time and any questions you ask are unanswered. You tell him you have pain and you will be on narcotics as long as you are a patient of his. I asked multiple times about different home remedies for pain or even an over the counter suggestion. I even asked about vitamins, no answer. Just hands you a script of 120 pills that are strong and could lead to an addiction. I was his patient for a few years and now I am going to take my whole family away from his practice and spread the word. Find a doctor that actually cares about your well-being. No personality. Never smiles. You leave the office feeling worse because you feel unheard. I'm just sorry it took me so long to make a switch. The only and I mean the ONLY good thing about his office are Bonnie and Carol. Those are his receptionists. They are very sweet and should be appreciated by him but that's… unlikely.

He doesn't pay attention to ANYTHING you tell him. He just kept tell me, don't worry about it, it will be fine, and up my meds. Strong meds at that 100 mcg Fentynl plus others. I kept telling him over and over i could not feel my legs, Eventially because he refused to do anything I collapsed and was rushed to the ER, where they admitted me paralyzed from the waist down, and I had to have emergency surgery. The surgeon even came in to talk to me and said he had no idea how they missed this for 6 years and said I've had to of been in excruciating pain for those 6 years. This could have been avoided, had he just listened to what i said. Now I'm fighting for disability and will never return to work. All because of his lack of interest in his patients

I am not happy with the wait time at all, I have actually sat in the exam room on a few occassions for an hour, and the office was not full, the staff is very friendly, but the doctor's attention and concern for patient's questions are not very good,he seems to make his own mind up on what the problem is without looking in to the problems I was concerned about.

I called the office in Imlay City to schedule an appointment. I was told that My insurance was accepted by the office. I arrived and was told that my insurance WAS NOT accepted. I drove from Royal Oak because Dr. Galen was highly recommended. Three hours of my time and over a quarter tank of gas was wasted. I know people make mistakes (as I do) but this could have been avoided by simply verfying my insurance information. Needless to say I was not happy when I left the office.

I feel he does not listen well, is not in tune to us. My family is not overly impressed. On scale of 1-10, 10 being the best, I would give him an 8. He does not ever go above and/or beyond. He misses certain parts of an exam, like examining ears for an ear infection when I've indicated ear pain. I feel he needs to listen to the pt. more and have more follow-thru. He does, however, prescribe adequate medications, and is a nice person.
