Dr. Gareth Eli Shemesh, MD

I have been shuffled over to Dr. Shemish because my own wonderful pain management Dr of 10 years has been called in to help with the opioid crisis in the local hospitals. I’ve now had a few appts with Dr. Shemish and every time he acts as if he’s never read my file or consulted his business associate (my previous Dr). I have to repeat things and remind him of why I cannot take certain medications every time. He does not consult my chart while talking to me either yet argues about treatments that I know I have tried previously and failed with. He always brings up weight loss surgery because I’m overweight and he feels this is my only answer to my problems, never mind that a) one big problem I have is a birth defect that could never be corrected and I’ve lived with it my entire life, and b) a couple other issues I have do not relate to weight in any way, and c) while I do have some things have been exacerbated by being overweight, they would have existed regardless. For a pain… management doctor to consistently focus on the wrong things and not listen to his patient, not check their chart or images and instead shove an elective surgery constantly in their face as treatment (that I’ve already said I cannot afford nor do I want) is NOT TREATING THE PATIENT WITH RESPECT NOR IS HE TREATING THEM CORRECTLY.

Excellent Doctor! Cares for his patients, and it shows! I have never been treated by a doctor so good. Diagnosed my pain the first time and treated me well. Will stay with him forever!

If I could give a NEGATIVE number of stars for bedside manner and the way I was treated, I would. Dr. Shemish was the worst doctor I've ever been by in terms of how I was treated. He was cynical and demeaning, and he made it clear that he thought I was lying. He was aggravated that I had questions about treatment and made it clear he did not have time for anything over and above the nerve study my referring doctor requested. I pressed to get my questions answered and now I wish I had walked out of the appointment.

After a serious misdiagnose with another medical physician's office, Dr. Shemesh treated me with almost instantaneous results and no surgery!

Dr. Shemesh is not only an excellent diagnostician, but he provides treatment that accurately and quickly resolves the pain. I have on occasion requested copies of the medical notes from procedures that I had in his office and was impressed by the thorough record that he enters for his patients.
