I saw Dr. Burke a few months ago after I was involved in a rear-end motor vehicle accident. I injured my lower back and my head in the crash. Dr. Burke did an examination on me that lasted less than two minutes, refused to do imaging despite the fact that I was extremely confused and dizzy and in pain, and sent me home saying that I’d be fine in a week. I eventually needed to go back to another hospital a few days later where I was referred for further testing and specialist visits. Months later, I’m still dealing with symptoms from my injuries.

My husband went in with a extreme nose bleed. This was his 3rd visit over this winter. Dr Burke was not only attentive but we received more information from him than in any other visit we had had in the past. We were very appreciative.

I recently went to the E.R. at Melrose/Wakefield Hospital and was seen by Dr. Burke. He didn't want to listen to anything i had to say, and made me feel like I was wasting his time. He was arrogant and condescending and was not compassionate at all. I know of a lot of other people who have had negative experiences with him too. (I only went to the E.R. due to a referral from the Urgent Care ) An overall bad experience, I'm surprised there aren't more negative postings.

I went into the ER with quite intense abdominal pain.Dr. Burke saw me within minutes,asked me all of the relevant questions, and examined me .He was quick and cut to the chase,and my first impression was maybe slightly cocky or intimidating,but honestly in emergency medicine that's how I want my doctor to be,quick and focused on my problem and thinking about the things necessary to fix my issue in an efficient matter.We talked about the things it may be,he ordered all of the necessary tests,was honest with me about what to expect as far as time waiting ,pain management and what the plan would be. When I had finished my testing he was back in my room with test results still wet and ordered another test based off of my result to ensure my safety before I was discharged.Once again after that test was complete,he came in,sat and discussed my results and even cracked a couple of smiles.I felt as though maybe his bedside manner was a little stiff at first.If you truly have an emergency be… grateful that the doc is quickly focused on your problem and getting you diagnosed.Most docs already know within minutes of knowing your complaint,your vital signs and immediate exam what's going on anyway and they just orchestrate how you get stabilized and treated for the best outcome.I'd rather skill over bedside manner in Emergency medicine anyday,but at the end of my visit Dr. Burke's bedside manner was just fine.I left happy and sure of what my issue was.

I was at Lawrence Memorial hospital with my daughter for severe abdominal and lower back pain. It was the worst experience I've ever had at any medical facility ever. The doctor completely dismissed her. Did not listen to her at all!!!! Then he said her bloodwork was fine, he NEVER TOOK BLOOD!! He said he would give her something for the pain, he ordered benadryl and an anti-psychotic medicine. He should not be treating sick people he was awful She is being admitted to the hospital Friday and having surgery to take care of her. I would not bring my pet to Dr Burke.

Judgemental as all get out. Failed to perform proper tests associated with the pain my PCP called and sent me directly to the ER to be treated for. For my pain they gave me 2 antacids(even though I'm already on Protonics), Benedryl, Zyprexa(an antipsychotic, because he decided it was all in my head), and Capsaicin(a chili pepper cream) that literally burned so badly I was urgently trying to rub it off. When I asked why they were giving me all these medications when none of them was meant to treat my pain, the nurse, Francesca blatantly lied to me "they all work together to help my pain"!!!! What a crock of s#$@ that is! I left the Lawrence Memorial Hospital in more pain than I went in with. I'm 37 years old and have never once been treated so poorly, and ignored by such an ignorant "doctor". From the second he walked in, he had already misjudged me. He told me that he would run a bunch of tests and that they would all come out negative. They never even asked me what I had taken for the… pain so far. I strongly believe Dr Burke thought I was a drug seeking "patient" and made his judgment based on that alone. He was so excited to tell me my tests were all negative. I told him for probably the 7th time that he did not perform the actual ultrasound in the correct area. He tried to dissuade me from a pelvic ultrasound by telling me it would have to be transvaginally. But because I know that's not true, I questioned him he admitted that wasn't the only way to see a cyst. He then tried to dissuade me from a regular pelvic ultrasound by telling me how much fluid I'd have to drink, etc.. I already know this. He also told me they took my blood, which I don't believe they ever did! After I explained how upset and ignored I felt he then offered to do a pelvic ultrasound and/or a CT scan. At this point, as I was not being treated for my pain, my symptoms were being ignored and my skin was actually still burning and I was being lied to and misjudged, there was no way I was going to stay for further tests. I had already had a very painful ultrasound on my gallbladder. I'm starting here with my complaint, but I will be taking this to higher ups. I would've been much better off if I knew I could've/should've requested another doctor.

This man should NOT be practicing medicine. I could barely walk, went to the ER, he leaned against the counter and told me to lose weight and exercise and sent me on my merry way. The next morning I was taken to Mass General by ambulance and spent 5 days there and got a diagnosis, which had nothing to do with my weight.
