Dr. Garrick C Lau, MD

I grew up in San Diego, California, and attended Brown University for undergraduate studies. During the summers, I enjoyed volunteering with patient services at the local VA hospital. After graduating with a bachelor’s of science degree in biomedical engineering, I attended Boston University School of Medicine and completed training in the combined MD/PhD program, focusing on molecular pharmacology. During my clinical rotations as a medical student, I spent some time with the anesthesiologists at the VA medical center. It was this experience, along with rotations at various other hospitals, which spurred my interest in pursuing a career as an anesthesiologist.

I find the field of anesthesiology to be an excellent blend of pharmacology and patient care. Everyday, whether in the operating room, on the Labor and Delivery floor, or elsewhere in the hospital, I am able to apply the skills and knowledge that I have acquired in the field of …anesthesia in alleviating a patient's suffering or pain.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing guitar, playing tennis, and snowboarding.
