Dr. Garth R. Swanson, MD

Rude and dismissive. Maintained that food allergies don't cause GI distress and basically told me my work with Immunology regarding the issue was irrelevant. He didn't have any ideas of his own though. Not worth waiting six months for an appointment

Dr Swanson really didn't take the time to figure out my case at all. He seemed rushed and uncaring. he followed a simple playbook that was too generic to do any good.

I was in the beginning stages of my Ulcerative Colitis when I started seeing Dr. Swanson, but I was also in a really severe state of the disease. Dr. Swanson and staff were knowledgeable, helpful, and honest about treatments and outlooks. Even after just one appointment, I knew that Dr. Swanson would do whatever he possibly could to help me get better, and that was the most comforting part of the experience. Unlike many doctors in the GI field, he was very open to trying new techniques, and has a very patient-centered mannerism in his practice. He knows that no one knows the patient's body and disease better than the patient, and will use that to create an individual care plan that is unique to your case. I have seen over a hundred GI doctors since my diagnosis, and Dr. Swanson is one of the best. The only issue is that you may be waiting well past your appointment to see him, but you'll find that it's only because he takes the time to have important conversations with each and… every patient. He is intelligent, well-mannered, and really cares about those that he treats. Trust me, you won't mind the wait at all.
