Dr. Gary Robert Bench, MD

My procedure went fine. He sent a tissue sample out for results and I was told I would get a call the following week with the results. At the end of that week, I called and was told I would get a call the following week. I called and was told I would get a call on Monday... on Tuesday I called and was told Dr. Bench has yet to review the results and I would get a call sometime in the future. Not the type of help when you're waiting to find out if the cancer he removed is benign or not. Would not recommend Dr Bench.

I have mesh in my abdomen after going in for hernia surgery in 2013 with Dr. Bench. My pain was far worse after and I was offered cortisone shots, to lose weight (same weight as before the surgery) and for my husband to come and listen if I didn't understand what he was saying in my follow up visit. After 6 years of pain, I finally found a surgeon I trust and had a mass removed from my abdomen and feel great. The same mass Dr. Bench saw in images. 6 years of changing my life around due to chronic pain and a misdiagnosis. I had endometrium in my abdomen, not a hernia. Why didn't Dr. Bench just stop when he didn't see a hernia in surgery? Instead he put mesh into my otherwise healthy abdomen that made my pain (from a growing mass) worse. The mesh will be in my body forever. Thankfully I found a surgeon who offered a simple fix to Dr. Bench's gross unethical implant. It took 6 years of struggle to get there. I would not recommend this surgeon for my worse enemy. How does he sleep at… night?

Arrogant, dismissive, and cavalier.

I just had a meeting with Dr. Bench to discuss the procedure I will be having. He is a very kind man. He explained in detail (using pictures off a tablet) what the surgery would entail. Who does that?? How very comforting to know he's the one doing the surgery. He answered all my questions and took time to listen to my concerns. I'm lucking to have him for my surgeon.

the best surgeon....saved my life twice, 14 yrs apart!
