Dr. Gary Richard Bernstein, MD

Went to Dr Bernstein office for my routine colonoscopy. He is an in-network doctor with my plan. I have the utmost trust in the doctor but when I got the bill from the office I almost fell over. In the past I have not had to pay more than approximately 400.00. To my surprise the bill was over 1000.00. Their surgical center billed 4000.00 for a colonoscopy and 4000.00 for a biopsy. The office passes the buck to the surgical center and the surgical center says oh well that is what we charge. Beware when you go and ask for a pre-determination from your insurance company with a full breakdown of everything that will be billed out. Called my insurance company and filed a complaint. To bad the doctor probably does not even know the billing procedures that his office is doing and how they are treating his patients.

I can't say enough about Dr. Bernstein, he's the best in the field

I have been a patient of Dr Bernstein for over 20 years. He has performed multiple endoscopic procedures on me, all done with the highest level of professionalism from the doctor and his staff. Recently my father-in-law wan staying at my home to recover from heart surgery. When he experienced a GI-related problem I called Dr. Bernstein and he agreed to see my father-in-law the same day, even though his schedule was quite busy. His assistance during this difficult time for our family was greatly appreciated. I highly recommend Dr Gary Bernstein and Long Island Digestive Disease Consultants!

Cares more about his office staff and loyalty to them than he cares about his patients. Might be a good doctor but if you want someone who listens to your pain, then I WOULD NOT recommend him or ANYONE in his office. Dealing with his office staff is enough to give you an ulcer!!

Office is confused and incompetent. PA did physical which was not needed, especially for a second opinion. PA had trouble actually completing the physical due to a lack of skills. Dr. Bernstein himself showed a lack of deep understanding of his field. Didn't understand how mastication affected digestion, and said he couldn't/wouldn't interpret the capsule endoscopy he would have someone else "look at it". They lost the form to get the "video" from the other doctor. No office management by Dr.

My husband and I have been using Dr. Bernstein since 1988. He is an excellent doctor and saved my husbands life.

I have been a patient of Dr. R. Bernstein for a few years. I have found him to be an excellent, humane, and kind physician. He is courteous, kind and caring. I have had many tests performed by him. His follow-up is clear and has always been proven to be correct.
