Dr. Gary Robert Cecchi, MD

I started seeing Dr. Cecchi seven years ago and am healthy and active today because of what he did and did not do. I switched from a much admired, charming oncologist who was blasting me with heavy-duty chemo to Dr. Cecchi, who was absolutely focused on my condition and stopped the unneeded and damaging chemo —"I do not want to put poison in your body if you do not have cancer." He ordered a battery of tests and all of the tests proved that I was free of cancer. He monitored my health carefully for the following years to be certain that cancer had not returned, and so far it has not. Trusting only the chart notes following pancreatic surgery, the charmer said I had stage 4 cancer. I might have died if Dr. Cecchi had not taken over, and I certainly would have been further damaged by the unneeded mega doses of chemo she was giving me that were making me very sick. If you prefer the sweet bedside manner of a doctor who may not know what she is doing to Dr. Cecchi's sometimes… abrasive directness, then good luck to you, but a skilled doctor is preferable to one who just takes a textbook approach to medicine and doesn't look deeper.

Very fast and does not pay attention to details. Let's others write his notes and does not check them so the mistakes are not corrected. Makes political comments that are inappropriate.

Dr. Cecchi is meticulous, thorough in arriving at a diagnosis and treatment plan. Lots of tests, but they're to be certain of your best course to recovery. He has treated me for two different cancers, 30 years apart, and I'm alive, well, and grateful that he has been my oncologist.

I was diagnosed with 5 cancers. Dr. Cecchi managed my care wonderfully. As we worked through each one, he monitored all the treatments, inspected all the reports, discussed all the options and followed through on everything. CPMC scoped me twice, and the surgeries (Colostomy, Kidney removal, squamous skin cancer, bladder scope, radiation) were done in SF, Alta Bates, Merritt, Summit Hospitals. He stayed with me through it all.

I saw Dr. Kim at Dr. Cecci's office some years ago. I did not know at the time that they never sent the results of a very expensive test (3k) to my GP and then promptly, lost them. Now his office claims that they never saw me at all. A total lie.

His Oakland office is now closed.

Excellent professional, very good communication.

Worst doctor visit of my life

Does not mess around. What's best for the patient.

Worthless consult-I had to wait a very long time and he barely gave me 5 minutes. Plus the building was dirty and the people were rude. I will never go back to that place!
