Dr. Gary Bernard Collins, MD

As a physician and surgeon myself, I am quite a tough critic, particularly when it comes to the softer side of medicine. Dr. Collins recently took care of my beloved aunt in the surgical ICU. I was astounded at both the amount of time that he wanted to spend on the telephone with me trying to know and understand my aunt as a person, not just as a clinical case. Unfortunately, she was at the end of her life, but Dr. Collins' focus was primarily aimed at determining and honoring HER end of life preferences for care. Hopefully, if you are considering undergoing his care, you will not be facing the same end pint that my aunt did, but if it does come to that, this is the doctor that you want by side. Further, if his prowess in the operating room is even half as impressive as his people skills are, then he is truly exceptional (and I expect that to be the case).
