I love orthodontics and working with so many wonderful people helping them better their smiles and bites. I knew after I had my braces I wanted to help others with the improvements I experienced! After 23 years in practice, I like my job more than ever. With the new technology, new techniques and instruments, and new computer programs, there is so much to enjoy!
Education and Continuing Education
For my orthodontic education, I attained both my Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) and my Master of Science in Orthodontics (MS) from Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, CA.
Although my formal education is complete, I always strive to stay abreast of current and emerging technologies and procedures that apply to my patients. As a member of the Seattle Dental Study Group, I meet monthly with other leading-edge dentists to review difficult cases and to continue the learning process. I also attend the American Association of Orthodontist national …meeting each year and attend two or three days of lectures on the latest techniques and materials.
In addition, I attend The Southern Association of Orthodontists annual meeting for two days of lectures, and the Loma Linda University Orthodontic Alumni Association annual meeting for a weekend of continuing education. I also regularly take online and regional courses for Invisalign to keep up with changes in that area. I love to learn and feel like my patients benefit from me keeping up with the latest of what is happening in orthodontics.
Professional Info
I love watching personalities develop as people become more confident and comfortable with their smiles, and always enjoy the social interaction that takes place at our office among patients and team members. Our patients are of all ages, and I learn something new from them every day!
Our team loves to have fun with the patients while in treatment and we all get excited about the beautiful smiles when the braces come off. We celebrate patients’ accomplishments in academics, sports, work and socially. New patients and newly completed patients can be seen on Facebook and on our bulletin boards at the office.
Every team member has at least eight years experience in the areas in which they work. Because they are competent at what they do, they have a lot of fun helping patients and interacting with them. Each team member loves people and works to make every patient and family member comfortable and to have fun.
Family and Community
I have lived in Northwest Georgia for 30 years, and am proud to have raised my children here. My wife, Janice, and I have three beautiful daughters named Lisa, Lori and Sherri. We also have three wonderful sons-in-law, and enjoy getting the whole family together when we can. Janice and I also have a Golden Retriever, a Dalmatian, and four awesome horses.
In my spare time, I enjoy riding our horses, biking, hiking, skiing, reading and travel, especially short term mission trips to do dentistry in poor communities or countries. Family outings are wonderful. I am also active in the community, and am a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, serve as an Elder in my Church, and have served as president of the local Dental Study Club, Rotary President, Chairman of the School Board, Vice Chairman of the Down Town Development Authority, President of the local chapter of the American Cancer Society, Co-founder of Regal Residence Personal Care Facility, and President of the Southern Chapter of the National Association of Seventh-day Adventist Dentists.
