About the Doc...
“I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona.  While Phoenix is a nice place, it was not to my liking, weather wise.  After joining the Naval Air Reserve and and flying to meetings in Long Beach, California for some time,  I started my required two years of active duty.  I was assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea, in Alameda.  The next two years were mostly spent offshore from Vietnam, where more hot, but humid weather was the rule.  I was very fortunate to be offshore, and not a land soldier.  I  considered a career in the Navy for at least a few minutes.  (They offer you bonuses to stay!)”
“After my release from the Navy, I decided that California was for me and started my college years in Los Angeles,  progressing from community college to Cal State Long Beach.  At that time I was preparing to go into oceanography and further immerse myself in cool water, but a damaged eardrum while …scuba diving ended that path.  My new bride from Glendale, Linda, and I decided that an earlier goal of becoming a dentist was the way to go, and easier on the body.  Eventually I took advanced classes to get yet more degrees and started my orthodontic career in Southern California.”
