Dr. Gary Warren Falk, MD

Having been a patient at Sloan Kettering, John Hopkins, Duke and now U-Penn I feel I am qualified when I say Dr Gary Falk would have to be one of the worst doctor experiences I have had in recent years. From Dr. Falks , inability to pull up records, lack of review of records, confusing scheduling, lack of procedure followup, poor bedside manner and a failed test all Dr. Falk could say is he lost a nurse, he was really sorry and everything is like this since COVID. Care at U-Penn Perlman Center for Oncology has been on par or exceeding of other great Cancer Hospitals. It's unfortunate this doesn't mean all doctors you come in contact with will also be great. When I asked for a referral to another Gastro doctor, Dr. Falk felt it was best I try a new hospital. He suggested leaving U-Penn all together. This would mean leaving all my new good doctors at U-Penn and seek healthcare elsewhere. This sounds more like a hurt ego? I am a 24 year bone marrow transplant survivor. I have… received treatment from so many great doctors. I hope my experience with this doctor is an isolated incident but judging from other reviews it may not be. Use reviews like this and others to make informed decisions.

He does not pay much attention to patients and their concerns . Poor bedside manner . Do not recommend!

I have been a patient of Dr. Falk ten years. I am fortunate to have a physician who is extremely caring and advocates 100 percent for his patients.I had a complicated reflux issue perplexing other doctors which Dr. Falk diagnosed and remedied. Extremely modest and highly accomplished doctor.

Dr. Falk is now at Penn in Philadelphia. I went to see him because he took over from my previous doctor, who left to go to Mayo. He spent 40 minutes telling me I was a time bomb waiting to explode because of my weight. He paid no attention to the fact that I'd lost 100 pounds, that all my signs were stable, that I had a stress test that was fine. He told me all about how his mother in law was upset that he didn't spend enough time at home with his wife and children, but it was important to him to swim every day. I could have gone in with a unicorn horn on my head and he would have said "you know what, you need to lose weight." He barely examined me at all or acknowledged my one question. I'm sorry he hates fat people but then he shouldn't be a doctor in one of the heaviest cities in the country. Making people feel bad about themselves and ashamed is a guarantee that they won't GO to the doctor. Unless it's an emergency, find someone else.
