Dr. Gary Hsich

We brought our almost 3-year-old son to see Dr. Gary Hsich in January 2025 because we had an intuition there was more going on than just a speech delay. At the time, he was barely saying words, but he understood everything we said, followed instructions well, and even created his own signs to communicate his needs. We already had him in speech therapy and wanted to make sure we were taking all the right steps to support him. Our appointment with Dr. Hsich was devastating. There was no physical exam, no formal testing, and no meaningful evaluation. Simply based on observing our son, Dr. Hsich told us that our child was cognitively delayed and that “there was no way to fix it.” He stated our son would never live a normal or independent life and would always need our assistance. He went on to say our son would struggle in school, never be able to count, hold a job, manage money, or have a family of his own. He also explained that our son would always function years behind mentally — for… example, if he was six years old, he would supposedly have the mind of a three-year-old. Most shockingly, Dr. Hsich determined all of this without any testing whatsoever. He told us that because our son was not talking by almost age three, he likely never would. My husband and I left that appointment completely devastated. In a matter of minutes, the future we envisioned for our child felt ripped away from us. After processing everything, we refused to accept that this was the end of our son’s story. We pursued further evaluations, and our son was eventually diagnosed with apraxia. Fast forward 16 months later — our son is thriving. He attends speech therapy twice a week and is now speaking in full sentences, something Dr. Hsich explicitly told us would never happen. I cannot express enough how harmful and irresponsible this experience was. If we had accepted Dr. hsich’s words as fact, our son may never have received the continued support and therapies that helped him flourish. Families come to specialists looking for guidance, hope, and proper evaluation — not sweeping lifelong predictions made without testing or examination. Thankfully, we trusted our instincts as parents. Our son is proof that Dr. Hsich was wrong.

This guy is a monster. Horrible bedside manner and told my daughter its all in her head. Interestingly enough we found another tumor in her body. That tumor was found by ENDO not NEURO. Non motivated and by far the worst provider I have ever seen.

I was definitely overwhelmed with needing this type of an appointment for my young son but the second I started talking with Him I felt at ease . He answered all my questions and concerns and explained everything to me and Made sure I understood . Very much so enjoyed speaking with him about my child .

Dr. Hsich spent TIME with us. Listened to us, responded well. Was GREAT with our 14yr old son. I highly recommend him.

He is a horrible dr. He had preconceived notions and his diagnosis was made before he saw my child. Was told that it was all in my child's head and that I was making it worse. He spent at most three minutes with my child and then asked to see me alone. If you look on Cleveland Clinic's Dr profiles and reviews, you will see not a single review for this Dr on their site. We never even received a survey about this dr from the clinic and we always get surveys.

I learned the hard way, not all Cleveland Clinic drs are equal. Do not take your child to see this man. He has your child diagnosed even before seeing them and once he does he'll tell you that it's all in your child's head. Parents BEWARE.

He appeared to be arrogant. Didn't listen to medical history. Missed 3 diagnoses. Refused to give a referral.

I saw him months ago for headaches and he thought my headaches were from stress, simply because I am a 15 year old girl. That is actually what he said. His "diagnosis" was incorrect. I finally got an accurate diagnosis that was confirmed by test results from a different doctor at the Clinic. I have a real problem that causes my headaches that Dr. Hsich failed to diagnose. He also seemed to think I was exaggerating my pain. He should not be a doctor anywhere, especially not the Cleveland Clinic.

This doctor is one of the worst I've ever met. Our child has a chronic condition diagnosed by multiple physicians and he told us it was all in my child's head and wrote this as well as inaccurate information in my child's medical chart. He has no business being around children and it's shocking to me that he is a pediatric neurologist. He has absolutely no bedside manner and no empathy for children and their parents. He treated my child very poorly. Do not have your child see Dr. Hsich. There are far better options for a pediatric neurologist at the Cleveland Clinic than him.

Dr. Hsich was extremely knowledgeable, caring, and took the time to make sure my son was well cared for. He was extremely friendly and courteous, and helped my son immensely.
