Dr. Gary Wayne Hudson, MD

I first saw Gary Hudson (25+yrs ago) when I had a couple surgeries on my jaw to correct a underbite. Since then he has performed several complex extractions and implants. He is the best; always patient, understanding and very professional. I have never had any problem with any procedure he has done. Top notch all the way.

Where to start? Waited 10 days to get an appointment. Paid in advance for the tooth pulling process which was the worst experience in my dental life (73 years). The 'medical assistant' was insulted when I questioned the lack of relief...and she told me so. Spitting blood as I left (and) at the parking lot just to breath properly. A week later still had pain, swelling and a hematoma under my chin. Medication ran out, had to wait thru weekend to get in touch, then told I'm not allowed to renew pain prescription.. only allowed a non-narcotic pain Rx which is notably bad for elderly persons (medicines quote); Serious side effects may include seizures, increased risk of serotonin syndrome, decreased alertness, and drug addiction. Common side effects include: constipation, itchiness and nausea, among others. A change in dosage may be recommended in those with kidney or liver problems. Regarding elderly: There is an increased risk of opioid-related adverse effects such as respiratory… depression, falls, cognitive impairment and sedation. Bottom line: I wouldn't recommend this hack for anything short of shining shoes. Take precautions !!!!

We went for a consultation to have two of my daughters wisdom teeth removed. We were given the amount that we were responsible for after the insurance paid their portion. Our amount was paid the day of the procedure - as required. Several weeks after her procedure, I received a bill in the mail for over $700! Of course, I called the insurance company and was told that they paid their portion that was due after the "adjustment". I called Dr. Hudson's office and was told that this amount was also my responsibility. I proceeded to email a copy of the insurance payment form to them for review. I never received a response, only a collection threat if they didn't get paid their additional fee. This is absolutely ridiculous! This means that I would be paying MORE out of my pocket than the insurance even covered. The whole point of a consultation is to know your financial responsibility for the procedure - obviously we already knew her wisdom teeth had to come out! We were told it could… be a little different (either more or less) but if it was that it would not be much at all. I'm not sure about anyone else, but $700 is A LOT of money to me and not something I just have laying around. We definitely would not have done the procedure with the doctor if we were told this up front. In my eyes this is just unethical behavior on this office and should not even be legal. If they "mis-calculated" the amount that much then they should have took responsibility for their mistake instead of passing it on to the customer.

Doctor Hudson is a very knowledgable and caring surgeon. I have taken care of his patients while working at the hospital and was able to assess his work and bedside manners. Now, I have been his patient for approximately four years and I can only said that I am extremely pleased with his standards of care and accurate management of my medical concerns. Hands down I will recommend him. His office staff are also very efficient and friendly!

Dr. Hudson provides the outstanding customer service that patients need and appreciate, especially during a stressful situation needing the services of a talented, experienced, caring doctor. I would recommend Dr. Hudson to family and friends, based on how he cared for my injury.

Dr. Hudson has performed two surgical procedures for me in the last few years. Both times he was thorough, caring and attentive to my concerns. His office runs very efficiently. Dr. Hudson has my complete trust and I believe he is the best oral surgeon in Huntsville, AL. I won't go to anyone else!

I am so pleased with Dr. Hudson and his staff. They take time to answer questions and make their patients feel comfortable. Thank you so much.
