Dr. Gary Anthony Lapolla, DO

Please see another provider if you can. I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction and concern regarding the care provided to my husband, by Dr. Gary LaPolla. My husband, a dedicated firefighter, sustained a severe laceration on his left arm while on duty during a fire rescue operation on June 19, 2023, at 1:00 AM. Upon arriving at the emergency room, he underwent a procedure to receive stitches and was provided medication for his injury. However, our frustration and disappointment stem from the subsequent visit to the occupational health center today, where Dr. LaPolla assessed my husband's condition. Despite the severity of the laceration and the potential implications it may have on my husband's ability to carry out his duties safely, Dr. LaPolla unilaterally cleared him for a return to regular duty on Friday without thorough evaluation. To our surprise and dismay, Dr. LaPolla failed to request my husband's job description, perform any functional testing, or engage in a… meaningful conversation to understand the limitations imposed by the injury. We firmly believe that such actions violate my husband's patient rights and compromise his overall well-being. Allow me to emphasize the gravity of this situation. If my husband were to resume his duties on Friday, as Dr. LaPolla suggested, without considering the limitations caused by his injury, it could have dire consequences. His left arm currently lacks weight-bearing abilities, rendering him unable to perform essential functions required for his role as a firefighter. This situation not only poses a potential danger to the citizens he serves but also jeopardizes his own life in the event of another fire or emergency situation.

Dr Gary makes my experience at the hospital so easy and relaxing even though I was in pain he makes me feel so relaxed. Highly recommend.
