Dr. Gary Lane Litovitz, MD

I have been seeing Doctor Litovitz since I was 17 (I'm turning 26 soon) and have received a lot of help from the Doctor. I can see why people may be put off with his dry sense of humor but I rather enjoy it. He doesn't beat around the bush and has helped me deal with issues just growing up to dealing with my parents. I trust him immensely.

I have to agree with the people who state that Dr. Litovitz is brief, not friendly or caring. I went to him for several years and found him to be arrogrant and brief. When I told him about my concerns and issues I might as well been talking to my dog. The lady who wrote her glamorous review of this doctor must have been on some heavy dose of medicine when she wrote her review. It's a shame because the doctor who suggested I see this person was one of the best doctors I have ever visited.

Dr. Litovitz saved my live . I was in treatment with him for a long and critical time in my life. He educated me on my problems and talked my through most of them and Dr. Litovitz also educated me on my meds. Knowledge that still helps me today. I am finally on the way to recovery and it has been a long hard slog. I am just sorry that Dr. Litovitz cannot see how happy I am and how I have finally put life back together.

Dr. Litovitz was recommended to me by my family doctor when I was having panic disorder. He helped me change my life by helping me understand the disorder and how to cope with it. I found him to always be sympathetic and concerned about me getting relief and being able to live a full life. He helped me find the right medication and then suggested I could stop if I was willing. He uses humor a great deal - with me anyway - and perhaps people might take that the wrong way, but I loved it. From the negative reviews I can't believe we're talking about the same person. Each person has to find the therapist that is right for him. I trust Dr. Litovitz completely.

Not very warm or inviting. Feelings Awkwardness and discomfort during sessions. Heavy emphasis on medication rather than talk therapy

Dr. Litovitz made a huge difference in my life. I trust him completely. I don't always agree with him and I have challenged him many times, but I respect him and I appreciate the way he responds to my challenges. Contrary to what another review says, I have found him to be extremely conservative and cautious before writing a prescription for any medication. He is very, very well informed on the benefits/risks of the various drugs and makes it a point to share that information with you. No therapist is going to be a match for everyone. He certainly was the right one for me.

He is a rare pharmacologist. He has a great experience of eating disorders and addiction (Substance abuse).

I cannot recommend this "doctor" to anyone. I spent the last year dealing with his harassment, in the meantime, my mental health deteriorated. He is an uncaring, mean and unprofessional man. I am surprised he still has any patients, but then again, he deals with a vulnerable population, who he prescribes the most sedating medications for, and takes advantage of their vulnerabilities. It is unfortunate, because he has certainly turned me off to mental health treatment, and especially psychiatry. It will take me a long time before I can ever trust a mental health professional again, let alone a shrink. In the meantime, back to self-help books to get me through the hard times. Oh yeah, and the man enjoys humiliating and making fun of his patients as well. Perhaps, he is missing something in his own life and being a "doctor" is the only way he can derive power and control. If you need help, get a referral from someone you trust, but DO NOT go to this doctor or let your loved ones go to… him.

Do not go to him. He is unethical, professionally lazy and arrogant. He does not care about his patients, nor does he listen to them. He needs to be on a mood stabilizer or antipsychotic instead of prescribing them.
