awful...just awful. Entitled...horrible attitude. One would get better results from a veterinarian.

I'm not sure how there's so many on his website who gave such great reviews. He makes me feel like my problems aren't significant. I've tried my absolute best to tell him how much this is negatively impacting my life, but he gives me no advice whatsoever. I'm having a hard time holding a job, but that's not his problem. The two stars are for his staff. They're nice.

One thing that I have found with some Specialist is you have to be patient, especially with Rheumatologist. They are not miracle workers. Sometimes it takes a while to get an accurate diagnosis unless it is something that is just obvious. On my first visit Dr Margolies introduced me to St Thomas by having me everywhere in the hospital for test. He was concerned when he heard my heart beat and did not want me to leave without knowing if everything was ok. I was there due to a concern from my primary of my RA factor, and pain. He made sure we had blood work and scans as well for the reason I was actually there. I felt that he was really watching out for my health that day. I do understand people get impatient and think that a doctor should have an answer immediately, but I am much better with a doctor being honest and trying to figure out what is going on than making up things. Dr. Margolies doesn't make up things and he is to the point, so I wouldn't get my feelings hurt too much on the… first visit. That being said, I am glad that my primary care physician referred me. Waited 6 months for this appointment.Two stars only because after a push he finally decided to try to evaluate me via bloodwork. He was perturbed with the fact I changed my primary care dr. to a Vanderbilt facility and not st thomas. He gave me the grill to find out why as if being hospitalized there and having two specialists there wasn't enough. He was upset because he would have to actually assess my records and not just make assumptions. He basically dismissed all symptoms i had and went after one one diagnosis that he read on the first note in my chart and then refused to believe that my cardiologist found a heart condition even though the MRI test results we in his face and I had to make him read them. He put me down and talked in circles to avoid having to think things through and answer my questions. His practice is questionable and he needs to be fairly evaluated for competencey. Im getting my test results and moving on. He basically told me if he can write a script then… there's nothing he will do for me. How about start with a diagnosis?! I didn't go there for meds I went there out of a recommendation from not one but three drs they can't all be wrong! Waste of time,money and honestly very discouraging. He needs to put himself in someone else's shoes.

This man is the rudest doctor I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. When he first came in the room he did not even introduce himself, he came in and very rudely asked why I was there. Then he started asking me questions...well anytime I would answer his question he was very rude and acted like I was a downright idiot or a liar. He treated me very poorly. And he constantly talked down to me. He hardly examined my body and anytime I told him about what I was going through, he treated me as if I was lying or just stupid. He wrote me off as soon as he walked through the door...and after the poorly done physical exam, he came in and started giving me a speech about the human body, as if I was a moron. He also said that he doesn't treat the patients but the symptoms...which goes against what doctors are taught in medical school. And he did not do anything for me. Not one test. Nothing. So it was a major waste of my time. This man has the WORST bedside manner I have ever seen in a… medical professional. He should go ahead and retire because he does not care about his patients and frankly treats women like absolute crap!!! I wouldn't take a pet to see this man, much less recommend a fellow human being to him.

Anytime we're confused about our health care from other doctors or wondering what we should do, my husband and I say "We need to call Dr. Margolies and ask his advice". We trust him more than any doctor we have seen not only because he is smart but also because he is honest. Bill and Pauline House

Ok, I was not there to see him myself, I was there with my wife. Who no doubt has a few issues he is supposed to be able to help with. However I do understand that he is getting access to information which other Drs have had time to look at and think about. But because insurance controls what Dr you see and when you see them. He gets patients that have seen their primary care dr for months and possibly other Dr’s that specialize in a certain fields and he is getting all this information at once. And he only specializes in a few areas. And I am sure there are Family Drs that have no answer or even a clue how to treat people so they just pass them to another Dr. If someone has more than one particular issue going on that doesn’t mean that Dr Margolies is the right dr to look at all the information and instantly know what your body needs. However he should be capable of understanding that you were sent to him because another Dr has already tried to help and could not do so. So they send… you to Someone they believe has experience in a field that some of or all of your symptoms seem to point. I think from the conversation we had with him he will do what he can to help any patient, but doesn’t have much of a tolerance for what he believes others drs have either told you wrong or maybe prescribed medicine that he didn’t think was necessary. Yet he is not going to say something bad about another Dr or completely disagree with them when he knows nothing about the person sitting in front of him. He was quite rude when questioned about certain symptoms that were concerning to my wife and I. He did schedule for labs and some other test to get more of a grasp on my wife’s situation. I will get a better understanding of his ideas and what he is willing to do to help someone on our next appointment. But as far as first impressionshe was a very non understanding Person in general but for a dr that got in the field to help people one would think he would be more ccapable of understanding and communicating with his patients. Feel like he was afraid to say “ I don’t know”. But kinda got the idea that he was in genera just sick of helping people unless it was something that was directly or a obviously in his specific fields. And if not our time there was a place where one could check off a couple possibilities. He needs to understand how it is on the patient end of things having to go here and there for different test and talk to different doctors because insurance says we have to. We didn’t ask to come see him and we probably wouldn’t have considering it’s almost a 2 hour drive. So who would look forward to meeting an A$$ after driving a couple hours. I hope I get a better perspective on our next trip or I will highly recommend that you do not see him if your family dr has not gave you a diagnosis because he doesn’t seem to want to take the time to look into helping anyone figure out what is going on with their body and their health. If a dr isn’t interested in understanding or having the compassion to understand what a joke it is on the patient end of things because we have to let insurance schedule our appointments then maybe he or she should get into another line of work where understanding and compassion is not necessary to be good at what they do. If a dr has no compassion for you and what you are going through the only drive for them to help anyone is only to Improve the status of their ego, which is not what being a dr should ever be about. If we have to do our own homework and study the human body so we can walk in and tell him what our diagnosis is. I imagine we could choose our own corse of action as well and then we would have no need to put up with doctors lacking the ability to communicate with patients. But unfortunately I my wife or I are not doctors so when something is wrong we depend on someone who has studied the human body to recommend and guide us through whatever we must do to be the healthiest moms, dads, sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles and grandparents we can be. Communication and how we do it is a must in every thing we do in this world. No matter what we do for a living or who we are. Everyone should practice improving at this daily, eapically if our job requires us to deal with the public.

Seemed to not have a good grasp of how to proceed with medical evaluation. He seemed to be confused about my documented diagnoses, felt the need to call my primary care doctor to verify my symptoms and diagnoses, and at one point rolled his eyes at me. I do not recommend

He was not even concerned with finding out what was wrong with me, It took my primary physician to figure it out. He also continued to up my dose of neurontin without considering other possible treatments.

My mother has been bounced around to several doctors and never had anyone explain everything. He took the to explain everything from all my diagnosis, lab results and it was in terms we both understood! KUDOS to this doctor who took the time to explain everything. I feel we have a much better understanding on my mother's heath care and would highly recommend this doctor. His nurse is very knowledgable and staff nice. If you need a Rheumatolgist then this is the one! He is a very good teacher!
