Dr. Gary Orbach

Who cares about the waiting area being small! You don't have to wait long to be called for your appointment anyway. Somehow I chewed my tongue pretty badly. This happened while I was on vacation in Mexico and I could not enjoy one day with my tongue chewed up like this! When I got home I went to an ENT doctor who wanted to remove part of the tongue! Pretty scary! And it would have taken several months to recuperate from this surgery. Not to mention the pain and suffering I would have had to endure. Doctor Orbach decided that we should try making the teeth narrower and moving them over so they would not bite down on my tongue. He also discovered that there was a space between the upper and lower teeth where my tongue was getting caught. The solution was to replace two teeth with crowns and to make them fill in this space. I no longer bite my tongue and did not have to undergo surgery! Prior to seeing Dr. Orbach, I went to the dentist I had been seeing for over ten years as… well as two other dentists who were absolutely useless to say the least. I have never been so frustrated, angry and upset. They had no insight as to how this problem could be solved and they were all extremely insensitive to my plight. Dr. Orbach is a caring, very patient, personable, knowledgeable professional and on top of all that he is a nice guy! As for the price, all the dentists charge about the same rates. That being said, if you are going to have to pay the same price for a mediocre dentist as opposed to a superior professional, there is no doubt who you should pick. Also, not that it matters but his office faces Central Park with beautiful serene views. His staff is competent and friendly unlike some dentists' staff I have had the unpleasant experience of having to deal with. I highly recommend him, although I should probably keep this a secret for fear he will become so popular that I won't be able to get an appointment!

The chairs in small waiting room are rather uncomfortable. The staff is kind, but it can be like negotiating a contract to get to appointment times that work for your schedule...make sure to understand what suggested work will cost prior to letting him drill. The hygienist does a mediocre job with the hopes to get you back in the chair more than once a year. The veneers, fillings, etc.,, hold up well. The digital X-ray images come up in moments, and he shares that info while you are in the chair. NY is notorious for overpriced dentists and doctors, and this one isn't the most expensive, but he's not far off.
