Dr. Gary Rakes

Dr Rakes listens well, is compassionate and understanding, and explains things thoroughly. He is very responsive via the online patient portal with any questions between appointments. Great care for typical IgE allergies and FPIES as well. Staff is super friendly and kind. Highly satisfied!!

Went in for repeated infections and they diagnosed me with red meat allergy! Then insisted that this is the final answer to all my prayers (not!). It's terrible when the doctor gets stuck and forces the diagnosis down your throat despite the fact that your symptoms and what's being said do not match! What's the point of such doctor visits and wastage of patient's resources, when the problem stays unresolved. This place is a circus and the staff are just mechanical cogs. Enough said!

Doctor Rakes and some of staff is excellent and warm and caring! One nurse is abrupt and office forgot to inform nurses we were present one day, so we waited an hour in waiting room. Then supplies had not been ordered, so we were told to return another day; for that date we received a phone call due to doctor sudden vacation plans. **Practice is too large, so disconnected. **

Things were somewhat reasonable years ago, now its all about the $$$... He wanted to do oral challenges for food items that we could eat at home anyway without any symptoms. He had a mass factory of such patients - several of the ones we talked to had negative skin tests but they insisted on challenging anyway....

I initially saw Dr. Rakes for my seasonal allergies and sporadic breakouts of hives. Dr. Rakes provides great recommendations, accurate diagnoses, and thorough follow-ups. He listens to my concerns and communicates in a respectful, caring manner.

We've used Dr. Rakes for years for our child. He has always been quite warm, thorough, and good with kids. However, his policy requiring a visit before updating an epi-pen for a life-long allergy is merely money grubbing. No valid medical reason and very inconsiderate of working families. Then there is the staff. Ranging from unfriendly to down right rude.

Dr. Rakes is one of the kindest most sincere doctors around. He makes you feel completely comfortable, like he has all the time in the world for you. He is just a wonderful person and a very thoughtful specialist. I continue to find this the case every time we visit. Great experiences.

We had 3 ER visits with our son for acute asthma and they told us he was "normal" and had no allergies. When tested elsewhere, he had a lot of allergies - I saw the large skin test results with my own eyes! Treating his allergies has a made a world of difference to him and to us over the past 5 months. Wonder if they have a quality control problem with their skin tests. Not satisfied.

This doctor has an excuse for everything. He mixed me up with another patient and gave me the wrong prescription. It took 7 phones calls and two confused nurses and retelling my problem way too many times to correct a simple prescription. I ended up calling my pediatrician and within 2 hours my pediatrician called in the correct one and it was the weekend. This doctor is going to hurt someone. Run don't walk. the other reviews are his friends children. I bet I am the only patient in these reviews that are not in his circle.

Prescriptions are not called in when they are suppossed to be. You are called 30 minutes before an appointment on your home phone after you are enroute to the office to cancel your appointment, but they want 24 hours notice. The receptionist doesn't know how to take your copay because she doesnt know how to work the system. If u have lab tests done be prepared to wait 2 to 3 weeks for the results!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
