Dr Schneiderman estimated best case scenario, 8 years per level fused before adjacent segments would wear out, this was nearly 10 years ago (and I had 3 levels fused at 38 years old). His bedside manner isnt the most favorable but I went to see him to give me my life back, not coddle my feelings. I am incredibly grateful for his gifted skill and highly recommend him.

Saved me

Avoid this doctor at all costs! Not only is he unable to perform surgery competently, his bedside manner is 100% deplorable (especially when things go wrong). I had the absolute worst experience with this man AND his staff. I would not let any family member or friend enter the door of his office.

I would recommend Dr. Schneiderman anytime. He takes his time and discussed the diagnosis and options thoroughly. I find he and his staff personable, and caring. Dr. S did a discectomy 3 years ago and I had exemplary results. His after-care went above and beyond. My physical therapist was very impressed that he ordered 3x/week for 6 weeks. At the completion of that, he ordered another 6 weeks. I was in great back-shape. I now have the same thing going on the right side. This time the effects are very different than last time. He is proceeding very cautiously.

Dr. Gary Schneiderman is an up-front, "tell-it-like-it-is" doctor who saved me from a life of pain and suffering. He like all of us, is human. He has his own personality and you have to be comfortable with the fact that as a surgeon, there is tremendous pressure on him as a doctor. As one who was in chronic pain for 3 months and had a very significant compression of my sciatic nerve at the l-5 level, (Not one pain med could calm the spasms and nerve pain!) he diagnosed and performed and excellent surgery that was to be good for a length of time in his words: "10 years" then probably a follow up "fusion." Well it has been 15 years and I am still pain free. Immediately after the surgery, he took all my calls and led me through my many questions. There is great pressure on today's doctors. Potential malpractice suits, dealing with insurance companies, and having to juggle this very complicated area of expertise. I can't think of a more complicated area of medicine than the… human spine. Dr. Gary knows his stuff. He is very competent and very confident. I highly recommend him to anyone.

I actually saw Dr. Schneiderman back in 2006 but came across this page and just had to review him. I found Dr. Schneiderman to be honest and compassionate yet at the same time he did not sugar coat the diagnosis and prognosis (which I appreciated). He did not demonstrate the all to common, god-like pathology of many Doctors of his speciality and I have seen many. That said, years after his initial prognosis, that I was not a surgical candidate and my condition was permanent and degenerative his accessment remains 100% correct. He also concluded that the only path for me was lifelong pain management which again remains 100% accurate. To this day I reject any recomendation from the many doctor's I see for any surgical intervention based on the complexity of my multi-level and multi-faceted spinal condition and Dr. Schneiderman's recommendations. As most people who have had long term spinal problems know surgical intervention under the best of circumstances is a gamble and results will… always be subject to more that the skill level of any doctor. Any doctor can do everything right and even then you may be worse off after. I therefore keep surgury as an absolutely last and final option and even then only to prevent paralysis due to my condition.

Before surgery I was a high functioning citizen (Teacher) with neck to shoulder pain. Mr. Schneideran recommended fushion of four vertebraes. Post surgery now has me disabled with chronic pain that require high doses of pain meds for the remainder of my life. I also have numbness in both arms and hands that was caused by his work. Post surgery results have me in 10 times greater pain than before surgery. Post surgery care was to separate himself from me as quickly as possible. He is quite the salesman who doesn't live up to his billing.

I met Dr. Schneiderman about a year ago at his office. He spent about hour with me discussing my back problem. He answered all my questions. I found him to be extremely friendly. He scheduled a second appointment and advised me to bring my wife so that we all could discuss my options. He suggested a spinal fusion. I was in the waiting room with my wife for the second visit. I spoke to two patients that had recent surgery performed by Dr. Schneiderman. One patient was about 70 and said he was in constant pain and unable to walk prior to his surgery. He used a wheelchair prior to his surgery. He said he now had no pain and he was able to walk several blocks. He spoke very highly of Dr. Schneiderman. The other patient had been in a roll over car accident. He also said he had very good results from his surgery. He said his wife was a hospital administrator and she found that Dr. Schneiderman was the best surgeon for his problem.

I would strongly dissuade anyone from considering Dr. Schiederman for spine surgery. From my experience, he was unable to perform my spine surgery competently and refused to own the poor results of his work. When I needed medical help the most following surgery, he was not there for me as a patient. The experience with Dr. Schneiderman was devastating.
