Dr. Gary Raymond Standke, MD

Dr. Standke has been my primary care Doctor since 1988. 36 years he has always been there for me. In my opinion I think he has a great bedside manner. He has always been very thorough and prompt. Dr. Standke has taken my concern and thoroughly very seriously. In the 35 years I’ve been seeing him. He has never had me come in it I didn’t need too. I do a physical every year and has always showed concerned for my health. Every time he moved locations I have gone with him. Every time he has changed company’s I stayed with him and I’m going to tell you why. And for all those who have given him bad reviews in my opinion it’s because he shoots from the hip. He doesn’t pussyfoot around and he tells you like it is and if your feelings get hurt then you need thicker skin or a different Doctor. I’ve been seeing him for 35 years and he has told me things I didn’t like to hear but he told it to me point blank. My original primary care physician whose was also the man who delivered me… when I was born was a great Doctor. Around 1984 he sold his practice to another doctor and I went to the doctor he sold his practice to a handful of time because he was a quack. I found Dr. Standke in 1988 and have been with him since. Before keeping their records on their computer system my file was as thick as an old school big phone book. If you don’t like to hear things point blank and get your feelings hurt easily then he’s not the Doctor for you. When I started seeing him I weighed 145 pound and stood just shy of 6 feet tall. There was a time after a very bad time in my life I weighed over a little over 300lbs and he told me point blank I was obese and if I didn’t lose weight I was going to have a lot of problems health wise. I took it to heart and lost over 100lbs in a year getting down to 185lbs. Sometimes the truth hurts and I appreciate him for telling me like it was. He has always been on time with my appointments and his staff has also always been great. He has also spent as much time with me as I needed. He doesn’t over schedule and he hasn’t had me come in for unnecessary follow ups for money purposes. He has referred me to some great specialists when needed. So again if your feelings get hurt because he doesn’t beat around the bush and tells you like it is then he is not the Doctor for you!!!!

This doctor is dismissive, rude, and refuse to do examination. There are numerous reviews showing a repeating pattern of this doctor denying patients examination and requested them to come back for a second office visit. I believe that this conduct resulted in him generating double billings for insurance profit.

He consistently belittled me for being an obese Type2 Diabetic. Gave me meds for blood pressure that caused me severe contractions of pain that sent me screaming in agony during one visit. He dismissed my pain and walked away in the visit. He told my husband and I that I had "Two years to live" which was a lie! Later when going to another doctor, I was told Standke had said in my electronic records that I was "Suicidal" which I am clearly not!! He has absolutely no bedside manner! This man should not be a doctor!! Dont go to him unless you can take his very rude comments and his lies. I would give ZERO stars for this awful doctor, If I could.

One of the worst doctors I have ever had. Extremely disinterested in you as a person.

Not sure when years ago I had gout he put me on 400mg of Allopurinol every day. I have been experiencing even worst than the listed side effects. When I transferred to Kaiser my new Dr was shocked. Why would he do something like this!?

I have had Dr. Standke as my doctor since 1991. He has always been so friendly, caring and professional.

I met with Dr. Standke for the first (and last) time a few weeks ago for my yearly physical. I will say that he was thorough in the tests he ordered, and I appreciate that. When I spoke to him about some female concerns I had, I found him dismissive during the appointment, but I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, so I planned on continuing in his care to see it it was a good match. However, when I got my patient chart, I noticed that he had written two diagnoses that didn't seem right (my fear of heights on an occasional plane trip became agoraphobia with panic disorder for example). I called to talk with him, and as he was not available, the office asked me to leave a message. I did, saying that I wanted to talk to him about the diagnoses. I got a call back a few days later from someone in the office stating that Dr. Standke said the diagnoses are correct, he will not change them, and I am welcomed to get a second opinion. Can he just talk to me? I asked. Nope. He… refused to speak with me. Really? So now my option is to take off work and see another doctor to discuss what is on my chart because Standke cannot be bothered or is afraid to talk to me personally. Stay away from Standke.

What I found is that he is very emotional Dr. I just got very disappointed

He is a very nice man. Takes time with you, no rushing.

Been my doc for past 5 years- seems genuinely interested and concerned and wants to hear information from patients. Appreciate his sense of humor.
