Dr. Gary Stewart

I initially chose Dr. Gary Stewart based on his positive online reviews and what appeared to be a friendly and professional demeanor. Unfortunately, my experience with him was deeply disappointing and concerning. From the start, Dr. Stewart failed to perform the Thompson test, a basic and widely used diagnostic method for Achilles tendon injuries. Instead of focusing on the area where I was experiencing pain—my Achilles—he focused on the upper part of my foot. He recommended that I wear a walking boot, purchase heel lifts, and get an MRI, all of which I did. At the follow-up appointment to review the MRI results, Dr. Stewart told me I had a complete rupture of the Achilles tendon. This confused me greatly, as I was still able to walk—something that is typically not possible with a full rupture. Even more troubling, he told me that I was outside the window for surgical repair and that the injury would simply “heal on its own.” He added, "If you were my family member, I’d recommend… against surgery." His diagnosis felt wrong, so I sought a second opinion. Thankfully, that physician correctly diagnosed me with a partial Achilles tear, which does not require surgery. I was told I had been significantly misdiagnosed, both at the initial visit and during the MRI review. In my opinion, Dr. Stewart demonstrated a clear lack of diligence and competence. Missing such a straightforward diagnostic test and then misinterpreting the MRI to the extent of recommending against needed care crosses the line from inattentive to negligent. Save yourself the time, money, and potential long-term consequences—look elsewhere for orthopedic care.

He’s the best! Dr. Stewart cares. His concern is with you getting better by giving you the appropriate treatment. Further, he’s personable, kind and professional. His staff is friendly and professional, as well. I wouldn’t go to anyone else! I would highly recommend Dr. Stewart. He is excellent. With Dr. Stewart I know I’m getting the best care available.

My visit was great. Dr. Stewart and the staff at the McDonough, Ga Resurgens office are the best . They make you feel very comfortable and are professional. I would recommend Dr. Stewart and Resurgens to anyone.

If I could give zero stars I would. Very difficult to get information and questions answered. This place is a factory pushing patients through, expect to spend 10 minutes or less with a provider. Not proactive in care or managing expectations. Disgusting exam rooms with over flowing trash bins. I cannot wait to be finished with this facility. Had bunion surgery 6 weeks ago still dealing with lots of issues. Should have stayed in Piedmont, wish I had care there now.

Dr. Stewart and his staff were very professional, caring and knowledgeable in addressing my medical issues and provided me with a comprehensive treatment plan. I especially want to compliment Shawanda at the front desk for her compassionately friendly demeanor, courteousness and helpfulness - all delivered with a smile.

Dr. Stewart has a great bedside manner! He listened patiently and carefully explained his diagnosis of my condition. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to my family and friends.

This was my first experience with Resurgence Orthopedic at Campcreek. Kudos to the staff. Very friendly and personable. Dr. Stewart very friendly. Waited on me in a timely manner. He made me feel special, gave diagnosis and treated the problem. Look forward to my next appointment.

Dr. Stewart helped me so much with injections for arthritic pain in my feet. I am able to get around so much better. Dr. Stewart is a wonderful doctor. He shows concern for your problem and makes you feel at ease with treatment. I would recommend Dr Stewart and the Resurgeons team to everyone.

I saw Dr Stewart for the first time on 29Aug23. I was very pleased at the short time to be seen, the attitude of the staff, and finally seeing Dr Stewart. He was very professional, and most of all, very reassuring about my medical complaint. He prescribed a plan to follow, from recommendations of shoes to wear, to what pain ointments I should try. It was very easy to discuss my concerns. I would highly recommend Dr Stewart for any foot/ankle problems and certainly also recommend his clinic.

DR. Stewart is a fantastic Doctor. I give him 5+? because he cares, and he listens to his patients. Its a pleasure to have him as my Doctor. His staff is exceptional and attentive to your needs. Your in good hands knowing that Dr. Stewart is up to date with his knowledge and technology to make you comfortable knowing hes by your side to make your experience successful.
