Summary

Dallas-Fort Worth Top LASIK Surgeon Revolutionizing LASIK: Dr. Tylock’s Pioneering Excimer Laser System

Dr. Tylock built one of the first excimer laser systems ever used in the United States designed specifically for LASIK vision correction treatments. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted Dr. Tylock an Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) for his “Tylock Excimer Laser System”. His unique excimer laser treated astigmatism and higher degrees of near-sightedness than the FDA had previously approved. His studies with the FDA demonstrated the safety and efficacy of these treatments. This information along with other studies provided a path forward for FDA approval for these higher degrees of nearsightedness and astigmatism treatments.

Texas’s Pioneer in Advanced LASIK Technology for Enhanced Vision Correction
Dr. Tylock was the first in Texas to use the Allegretto Wavelight Refractive Suite, which combined the FS 200 Femtosecond Laser to make the LASIK flap and the EX500 excimer laser, the most advanced technology at the time, to gently reshape the cornea correcting near sightedness and astigmatism.

Achieving Unprecedented Clarity: The Impact of Contoura® Vision for Exceptional Visual Outcomes
Contoura® Vision was a welcomed technological addition to the Allegretto Wavelight Refractive Suite which based its treatment on the measurement of approximately 22,000 points on everyone’s corneal surface. This 22,000-point measurement allowed for the most precise treatments ever for each patient’s eye irregularities often referred to as higher order aberrations. In patients having Contoura Vision, 64% achieved 20/16 vision or better, meaning they can see better than those with 20/20 vision.   Tylock Eye Care and Laser Center was one of three training centers in the United States where ophthalmologists and their staff would visit and learn more about this state-of-the-art technology. At the time of Dr. Tylock’s retirement, he had performed more Contoura®   Vision treatments than any other ophthalmologist in the country.

Celebrating Excellence: Dr. Tylock Recognized as a Top Ophthalmologist in DFW in Nine Different Years
Each year, D Magazine conducts a poll of thousands of physicians in the Dallas Fort Worth area to ask them who they would select for their care or family members in various specialties of medicine. Dr. Tylock was honored to be awarded this Best Ophthalmology/LASIK recognition in nine different years by his peers.

Guiding the Next Generation: Dr. Tylock’s Impact Through Teaching at UT Southwestern
After completing his internship and residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Dallas, Dr. Tylock served as a Clinical Associate Professor for 20 years there, teaching surgical techniques to resident doctors specializing in ophthalmology.

Official LASIK Surgeon for the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, & Dallas Stars
During his career, Dr. Tylock was proud to be the “Official LASIK Surgeon” of the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, and Dallas Stars. Being a sports enthusiast, he was thrilled to provide a competitive edge to some of the top athletes in the Dallas Fort Worth area by helping them attain the best vision possible without corrective lenses.

Our provider data is gathered directly from physicians and publicly available databases. Providers who verify their profiles gain the ability to update information, offering additional details about their specialties, education, treated conditions, performed procedures, and accepted insurances.

Reviews on Vitals are submitted by users only. Recognizing the valuable insights these reviews offer into a doctor's reputation, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Importantly, providers cannot delete or alter reviews independently. Reviews can only be deleted or changed following an internal assessment by our customer service team.

Your feedback is highly valued and we encourage you to contact our support team should you encounter any issues.
