Dr. Gary J Wayne

Worst 15 minute dental evaluation experience of my life. Doesn't listen to your concerns. Is an arrogant condescending bloviator, without compassion caring only about his wallet. Left no options except the most expensive one. Looked at my tooth for literally 5 seconds and diagnosed it without explaining as to its condition. Told me I'm definitely not a candidate for a crown only! only! only! a titanium implant - no choice; end of story - ca CHING! On the other hand I found another dentist in my area who took 40 minutes to examine the tooth and told me I was certainly eligible for a crown and that there were even less expensive options to save the tooth - YES! MY ACTUAL REAL TOOTH! That dentist is a caring over, above and beyond dentist. Dr Wayne on the other hand is a money hungry fake posing as a professional. His office décor and the message it communicates tells you everything about him - an elitist snob whose only concern is to gallop off with your money.

Dr. Wayne may very well be a perfectly adequate oral surgeon if you can get past his atrocious bedside manner. I have been a parent for 17 years and this is the first time I have had the displeasure of removing my child from a Doctor's care before a procedure was performed. My first impression of Dr. Wayne was that he was overly boastful. While this may be a character flaw, I didn't think it necessarily reflected his abilities to medically care for my child. I did not leave at this time. The second strike occurred as we were discussing my child's allergies. He was very dismissive about her allergy to latex, claiming that most children are sensitive to adhesive in bandages and not the latex itself. While I do not doubt his claims, I made it clear that it was not only bandages that my child has a problem with. This fell on deaf ears, because, as he struggled with Latex-free gloves, he huffed under his breath, "I don't think it's a real latex allergy anyway!" I must admit, I was floored… by this blatant lack of respect and proceeded to set the record straight. Again. Still, we stayed. The third strike came when I was asked to leave during the procedure. While I understand that some children may behave worse when their parents are in the room, my child is not "some children." She is an extreme introvert and if something hurt or bothered her, she would never speak up for herself. I would be a presence and a comfort for her. I was told that Dr. Wayne was not comfortable with parents in the room. I am sorry, but the patient hires the doctor to perform a service. It is the patient's comfort and well-being that should be the pinnacle concern during a procedure. This made me wonder what he was afraid I could witness. While the office staff was lovely, considerate and respectful, they unfortunately could not make up for the utter lack of respect I felt from Gary Wayne. I would recommend that he discontinue his practice to minor patients. If an adult chooses to be seen there, then that is their perogative.
