Dr. Gary Bruce Witkin, MD

Gary B. Witkin, M.D., has headed Christiana Care's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine since February 1999. In this role, he oversees all department activities, including serving as director of Christiana Care's pathology laboratories. Dr. Witkin also has been an attending pathologist for the health system since 1989. Dr. Witkin earned his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore in 1982. He served as a resident in anatomic and clinical pathology at North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill, N.C. He completed his fellowship in surgical pathology at Yale University School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn., in 1987. Before joining Christiana Care, he was an attending pathologist at Yale-New Haven Hospital. He also was an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology at Yale University School of Medicine. Dr. Witkin is a certified diplomate of the American Board of Pathology in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology. He also belongs to …several professional organizations, including the College of American Pathologists, for which he serves as a hospital inspector. Dr. Witkin and his wife, Jennie, have a daughter and a son.
