Dr. Gary Wohlberg, MD

It was the worst experience I’ve ever experienced with a healthcare professional. Gary Wohlberg is rude and condescending. He did not answer my questions and rushed my appointment. It was seemingly evident that he did not want to provide helpful alternatives. Horrible experience. Two thumbs down to Northwell for keeping this character on the payroll.

I treated with Dr. Wohlberg for sleep apnea. While Dr. Wohlberg was fine, the Northwell office has some problems. The office was supposed to follow up with me to make a sleep study appt. and this never happened. I had to go back to the Dr. and I was then referred out to United Sleep Diagnostics, Commack because Southside Hospital is backed up for months for sleep studies. One should avoid United for sleep studies because they never followed up with my carrier to do a pre-cert for a study. I had to call Northwell again and they then referred me to Southside. Blue Cross, like many carriers now will not ok an overnight sleep study and makes you get pre- certification from an outside company. Only a home study was pre-certified. I had to inform Southside Hosp. who supplied me with the equipment that the pre-cert had a time limit otherwise I would have waited months for the home sleep study equipment. Finally I found out I have severe sleep apnea!

When I first saw Dr. Wohlberg after my father was released from the hospital he referred us to hospice which was greatly appreciated as they greatly assisted me in caring for my father in the final months of his life. However, we went to see Dr. Wohlberg again a few months later for a check up and he nicely told us to get my father's medical records on the way out as he wanted my dad to see someone else which we did. This caused a lot of stress for me as my Dad was getting worse and we needed help of which the soonest I could get an appointment with another doctor was in a month. I don't know why he refused to treat my father anymore but that was a horrible and wrong thing to do. He should retire.
