Dr. Gary Lawrence Wolf, MD

My PC sent me to a rheumatologist due to my complaints of severe hip, upper leg, lower back and pelvis pain. After my exam with Dr. Wolf told me I had a muscular dystrophy and recommended a neurologist. I am 28 years old and hearing this was very upsetting especially since I had to wait a month for an appt with a neurologist to confirm. The neurologist ruled out MD and MS. Bloodwork showed Hoshimoto's Disease and an Endocronologist was recommended, three more weeks of waiting in pain and now I could no longer work. Endocrinologist decided not to treat the Hoshimotos at this time and as for the pain, well he recommended I work out to strengthen my muscles (seriously?). Three months and back at square one I called Dr. Wolf's office relaying what I had been through. Three days later he called me back, stated he was sorry I had been through the cycle of doctors and said he would take over the case, call his colleagues to determine what was going on and would get back to me within a… week. I didn't hear back from Dr. Wolf but because he was so certain I had MD I waited three more weeks for a second opinion from another neurologist who confirmed I did not have MD. Four months later after numerous blood tests, a Cat-scan, 4 MRI's, finding a therapist (what if this was all in my head?) and a trip to the ER I was still in pain, losing weight and still out of work, I made an appointment with a Mass General rheumatologist who was highly recommended, Three more weeks of waiting, but after his exam he ran 1 blood test that came back positive which prompted one MRI, a type never recommended by previous doctors, and he had my diagnosis. I understand that doctors are only human and that some are not as good as others, but Dr. Wolf not only couldn't find the problem, but sent me off with an upsetting misdiagnosis of which he felt certain. Then to say he understood my frustration and was going to take control of my case but never doing so, or at least I can only assume he did not because to this day he has still not called me back, is what earns him my one star rating.

I hope this guy doesn't have kids. They would be miserable with a parent like that. Does he even want to be a doctor?

My daughter just left Dr. Wolf's office and had an awful experience. When she returns home I will have more specific details of her visit.

One meeting with him, one with a colleague to whom he referred me. Excellent engagement on both occasions. In both cases he followed up with a phone call on the same evening, once well after 8PM for about 15 minutes. We talked through the whole thing. Thankfully, he also has a sense of humor.

I took my daughter to see Dr. Wolf after being "diagnosed" by another doctor as having fibro. We spent over an hour with him during which time he did NO examination. He didn't even shake her hand. And from that he declared that she does not have fibro and that she needs to see a psychologist cause the pain is all in her head. Wouldn't recommend this doctor to my worst enemy.

It was a pleasure having my appointment with Dr. Wolf. He spent the time to clearly explain and show me where my issue was and what the next steps would be. Even though he had patients waiting - he still spend the time he needed with me. I would definitely recommend.

Excellent thorough and caring doctor. Outstanding compassion and bedside manner. Very bright and capable doctor, Works well as part of a team with other doctors and specialists treating you.

Dr. Wolf never called back. I called 3 times. I needed a refill on medication and nothing. I don't know who's dropped the ball, the office staff or the doctor himself, but it's so wrong.

My first visit was very pleasant. he was gentle , kind and spent a a lot of time with me. His cortisone shoot was not a bit painful, but after a week the pain was not improving. i called ,he returned my call and said i need an MRI. HE WOULD SET IT UP ! that was the last time i talked with the dear sweet doctor. AFTER FIVE PHONE CALLS , i gave up! don't waste your time! I WOULD NOT SEND ANYONE TO HIM !

OMG! He is the best! I have severe osteoarthritis and he treats me with prednisone infections and arthrocentesis. I never felt a thing. he gives me so much time. I just referred a family member to him. He told me that knee replacement was in my future, and my 1st new knee is now 7 months old. Dr. Wolf is a compassionate, kind, accurate diagnostician and physician. His staff is friendly. Anyone that writes a negative word about Dr. Gary Wolf is NUTS!
