Dr. Gauri C. Bedi, MD

Had breast surgery with Dr. Bedi. Knowledgeable, generous with her time, follows up, and genuinely cares. Have had four prior surgeries, so I know doctors and hospitals fairly well and Dr. Bedi is top notch.

Dr. Bedi is an exceptional surgeon and woman. She takes time with her patients. Her bedside manner is outstanding.

Dr. Bedi had come highly recommended. I had suspicious findings on my mammogram (calcifications). The entire experience with Mercy, which ended with my seeing Dr. Bedi, was honestly a nightmareâ?? from the hospital misplacing my xrays to them nearly doing the biopsy on the wrong breast (I had to correct them), to hitting a blood vessel during the needle aspiration biopsy (I bled for two hours and ended up bleeding through three layers of clothing on my way home from the hospital). Immediately after the needle aspiration biopsy, the radiologist sat me down to discuss my treatment options, including a full mastectomy (this, before I even had a diagnosis or results from the tests). It was absolutely terrifying. She called a few days later to give me my results, asking me "if I was sitting down" before giving me the results, which of course led me to believe it was the worst possible news. Her response--"results were negative, but I still think you have cancer." I was then referred to Dr.… Bedi and had a similar experience--essentially, her doing an exam and telling me she was "99% certain" I had cancer based on the mammograms and she recommended another needle aspiration biopsy to confirm her suspicions. I questioned whether or not another needle biopsy was the way to go to get a diagnosis (since it came back inconclusive the first time) and she seemed to bristle at my asking if there was another option. I ended up going to another surgeon in the area who had an entirely different approach (assumed I did NOT have cancer until proven otherwise). He did the surgical biopsy and all other necessary testing, and I did not in fact have cancer. It was a horrible experience and I would not recommend this practice to anyone. I might have lost my breast had I opted to stay with this practice.
