Dr. Gautam Datta, MD

HORRIBLE office staff! The phone system is a nightmare and it takes upscale of more than half an hour to nearly an hour to get a live person on the phone. The staff does not work well with the insurance company nor the drug store when prescriptions are to be placed. CANNOT get someone to return your messages in a timely manner. When you call in and FINALLY get someone in his office they are RUDE and act as if they HATE their job. Due to the limited physicians that can prescribe a certain medication patients are forced to put up with this kind of behavior and attitude much less disorganization. Extremely poor professionalism. Appears they do not care about the patient but only about the money involved.

I am 17 years old and have had a very serious OCD picking disorder and pick at my skin a couple hours a day ever day for years and when explaining this to dr datta HE PRESCRIBED ME AN ANTIHYSTAMINE

Horrible job at providing medications that he said would be provided. No communication what so ever between pharmacy and clinic. A person came in and demanded medication, later it was not called in after they promised that it would be delivered, or at least called in. Because of this experience I have had here I am never coming back, except to try and get my kid his medicine

The staff at the front desk is always rude. They act like they have better things to do than to check you out and help schedule future appointments. Calling the office about appointments and prescriptions is a nightmare. A recording comes on every minute or so to tell you how many callers are ahead of you. It can take at least 45 minutes to get through. This happens everytime I call. I feel Dr. Datta is a good doctor, but his staff needs a "shake up". With today's technology, there is no reason to have people waiting on hold forever, and there is never an excuse for office staff to be rude/dismissive of patients.

Quality of patient care is poor. Office staff is unreliable. Fails to get messages to doctor.

Patient goes in, Dr. Datta says "Hi, how are you doing?" Writes a prescription and you're out in less than 10 minutes after being called into his office. In it for the money only.

He missed my bipolar diagnosis. Instead he diagnosed me with ADD and wrote me a prescription. Luckily I had an appointment with my ob/gyn later that day and she advised me against filling the prescription since she knew me for three years. (To be fair- she missed bipolar diagnosis as well). It was the first time i heard a doctor call another one unprofessional. Fast forward four years and I end up hospitalized for Bipolar Type 1. Since he was the last psychiatrist I saw, the hospital called him. I was in pretty bad shape when I saw him again. Pluses are that he has a caring demeanor and was very aggressive to stabilize my mood. Downside- I was over medicated and couldn't stay awake. I ended up switching psychiatrists after my hospitalization. From my experience, he doesn't seem to have a handle on bipolar. he might be a stronger practitioner in other illnesses. Also bipolar is very hard to diagnosis. I believe about 80% of bipolar are incorrectly diagnosed.

Dr. Datta seems to be a good doctor, but his office staff is incompetent and rude.

I personally would highly recommend Dr. Datta. I have found that he is a good listener,shows empathy, and is insightful. I had a very difficult issue with a family member and he was able to get me through the issue without lecturing!
