Dr. Gay Best Richardson, MD

Gay Best Richardson, M.D. completed a BS Degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at Eastern Kentucky University in 1993 and completed her medical degree at the University Of Kentucky College Of Medicine in 1997. She is a member of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, American Academy of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and other prominent organizations. She served as Chief Resident in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and has supervised and taught medical students as well as served on the Medical Quality Improvement Committee at Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital. She has extensive research experience and extensive formal presentation and lecture experiences surrounding Neurosciences.

Dr. Richard has received numerous awards and honors including the David L. Cohen Award and graduated Magna Cum Laude as well as other commendations. She completed her Residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at …the University of Kentucky, Chandler Medical Center, Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital, Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Lexington Center for Health and Rehabilitation and the Shiners Hospital for Children. She achieved board certification by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2002. She has also achieved board certification by the American Board of Pain Medicine in 2004, and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine in 2006.

The experiences and skills of Dr. Richard as an attending physician in a Pain Management/Neurosurgery practice are extensive. She has special interest in neck and low back pain, myofascial pain syndrome, electrodiagnostics, injective therapies and other neuroscience diagnoses. Her multiple board certifications in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine, Electrodiagnostic medicine and extensive clinical and research experience make her a welcome addition to our multispecialty neuroscience practice both for our physicians, our referring physicians, and our mutual patients. Outside of work, Dr. Richardson is an accomplished equestrian rider in multiple disciplines and an avid reader of science fiction literature.
