Dr. Gayle Elizabeth Long, MD

If you are looking for a dr who is intelligent and willing to help, do not go to see dr long. I was sent to the ER by my primary care physician and dr long only ordered a urine analysis. She found blood in my urine, accompanied by the pain I had explained and vomiting, but did not want to run any other tests (including drawing blood) to figure out what was going on. She said she felt uncomfortable treating me because she thought I was a pain medication seeker. Oddly enough, the only medications I am on are antidepressants. Anyways, she tried to give me ibuprofen after I had repeatedly told her that I am on a blood thinner (you cannot take any anti-inflammatory drugs when on a blood thinner other than tylenol) so I had to correct her. She then went through my medication list and was critiquing my primary care physician's choice of medications (even though she had already shown she doesn't know medications well and this was not why I was in the ER). Needless to say, after her refusal of… treatment other than the UA which tested positive for blood (which indicates something was wrong), my primary care sent me to a different ER today only to discover I have kidney stones as well as hydronephrosis. Her clear negligence in this case could have turned out terribly had this been a life threatening condition. So after being insulted emotionally and treated poorly by a woman with a lack of basic medical knowledge, I was lucky enough to find another dr willing to help me. Drs like Dr Long are the people who give medical professionals a bad name.
