Dr. Gaynell Paul Matherne, MD

Paid out of pocket to see Dr Matherne for a new patient consult- after waiting nearly 60 minutes. First, we were met by a medical student, who demonstrated anymore professional demeanor than Dr Matherne. He then popped in and out quickly, flippantly went through our history, didn't even speak to our daughter (the patient), barely examined her and disrespected me, the concerned mother, throughout the evaluation. I respectfully had my questions organized in order to be efficient with our time. Instead of providing eye contact and a sincere desire to listen, Dr Matherne snickered throughout the "exam", chuckled at my eagerness to learn through questions, made zero eye contact with me (as he looked down and scribbled on his paper), and belittled me from start to finish. He basically scoffed and made both my husband and I feel as though we were ridiculous in pursuing care for our daughter, who presented with an abnormal EKG, chest pain and episodes of severe lightheadedness. This man seeps… arrogance and as a result, speaks with a "top-down" approach. We found him to be rude and utterly unsympathetic. Please do not waste your time with someone who lacks compassion and is as dismissive as Dr. Matherne.
