Dr. Gene Norman Barry, MD

I went into labor the day before his vacation began. It was my fourth c-section. I asked to have it scheduled as my previous OB doctor had done. He delivered my son and I never say him again until my 6 week follow up. The doctor that was seeing his patients never checked on me until I asked a nurse about being discharged. When I didn’t agree to his suggested method of birth control his comment was “I will see you in here again within the year!” I couldn’t get out of his office fast enough. I was beyond mad.

He was the worst Dr I have ever been too!! Horrible bed side manner. He was the on call Dr for my delivery, I never would have chosen him!

Besides not doing enough at each doctor visit I had, and not checking me on my last visit for which i was already in labor, that resulted in me having to go to the hospital and have an emergency c-section, this man while doing my c-section not only cut the top of my daughters head while taking her out also cut a whole in my bladder. Then after I was out of surgery told me "Oh it should heal on its own, talking about the hole the size of a penny in my bladder". Two days later still in a tremendous amount of pain, I was released from the hospital everyone saying I had gas and it would go away if I walked around. I got home and after two days of being in terrible pain and not being able to barely move, I went to the emergency room, they did some tests and found out the hole had been letting a massive amount of urine into my stomach. They immediately called a urologist and took me to the surgery room. I had surgery in less than an hour, and then had to stay in the hospital another week,… right after I had my baby for a very unnecessary reason. All because Dr. Barry could not take time to check me before I left to make sure it wasn't just gas in my stomach. And on top of that the urologist said if I had waited any longer I could have died from an infection from the urine in my stomach. Tell me what would my newborn baby and my eight year old done without their mother, all because of one doctors negligence?

He is to the point! he doesnt beat around the bush on things! and he makes you feel comfortable as well as the staff!

I made an awful mistake and chose Dr Barry for my OB in 2008. It was the worst experience of my life and he is probably the WORST PHYSICIAN of any kind I have EVER met. He kept an important test result from me and I was denied the freedom to make a choice concerning this issue which ultimately resulted in a TRAUMATIC BIRTH EXPERIENCE for both me and my baby. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND that anyone that wishes to be treated with respect to consider using Dr Barry.

Staff was very nice and courteous. Dr. Barry helped me through a very difficult pregnancy. He agreed to see me several times with a same day appointment (once even taking lunch late to squeeze me in). He was very kind, and followed up with me after my baby was born. I have been using him for 6 years, and I wouldn't go anywhere else!
