Gene Cathey, MD

I went in Friday for an appointment but was feeling ill so I had Dr. Cathy check my throat. Without doing any kind of testing he assumed I had strep throat and prescribed me medicine. Five days later I go to Urgent Care and the doctor says Dr. Cathy should have tested me because the medicine he gave me wasn’t working/wrong and I couldn’t be properly tested due to the antibiotics I had been taking. Not to mention five days of constant throwing up after the medication he gave me. AND NOT ONLY did he give me the wrong medicine he also made a comment about some test results of mine that another doctor said were clean and when I asked what he meant he said disregard what was just said I wasn’t supposed to hear that. SO UNPROFESSIONAL. WILL NOT BE GOING BACK TO HIM.

Dr. Cathey is a wonderful, caring physician that has took me under his wing and makes sure that I get the best care possible. Dr.Cathey also has his Awesome Nurse Navigator Population Specialist, Cathy, and she follows up with me to make sure that I'm doing well and if I may need to be evaluated further with Dr. Cathey. The whole team together at Cedar Lake Memorial Clinic work great together to get you the care that you need. They are very caring and compassionate. Clearly not a team player with those he works with and does not strive to make sure each patient has a great experience!!! How do you get the taste out of your mouth from a truly bad experience with him??

How do you get the bad taste out of your mouth when Dr. Cathey clearly demonstrates he is not truly a team player with the groups he works with?

It was a ok visit i just haf concern why he didn't reschedule me another appointment after my follow up visit

Did not see a Doctor .

He has no personality. Unhelpful staff. I would look elsewhere.

My sister was taken to George County Hospital where he was on call in the ER myself and my mom tried tell him something was wrong with her but she had drugs in her system (xanex and mj) looked down on her for this, but he said she needed to sleep if off problem was she couldn't talk at all and was throwing up all over herself... Next day I took her to USA Trauma and she had had a major stroke with 2 clots that had busted... I'm not a doctor but I googled the next day and rushed her to USA!!! He should have seen the signs bc that's how I figured it out and Ive never been to medical school!!!

Very nice personality and willing to listen. Usually short wait.
