Dr. Gene Woo Yang, MD

Arrogant, doesn’t let you speak. I had some medical issues that needs to be addressed because my prescription wasn’t doing any effect making me feel pain and was affecting my personal life. He didn’t listen and refused to at least consider switching meds or something. He simply said no. Then had me take some other test, called me 6 weeks later to let me know I had other issues and offered no solution. I called weeks later to let him know I tried to get better on my own but I was looking to take a prescription that some RN suggested to me. He cut me off before I could finish my sentence and said No. I didn’t feel understood, again. his approach is “my way or the highway”. He wears his tittle as if it’s some type of caste distinction. Do you want to be treated like a second class citizen, then this is the right doctor for you.

Having to wait over 2 hours past my appt to then have him walk in, call me by the wrong name and ask to see the wrong body part. The entire experience made me very uncomfortable and anxious. I actually requested to have a nurse come in because of his comments about why I was there to be seen. Had I not already been there 3 hours I would have just left an made an appt with another, more qualified ans professional doctor.

For those who are with Kaiser Permanente, living in San Diego, CA and looking for a great primary care physician - Dr. Gene W. Yang is the one! Dr. Yang has been my husband’s physician since 2008 and we couldn’t have made a better choice! Known for being extremely thorough, knowledgeable and intelligent, Dr. Yang’s main emphasis is preventive care that is also what Kaiser Permanente is famous for! Dr. Yang is never in a hurry! He will listen to ALL your worries and concerns, will answer ALL your questions and will check you thoroughly and accurately! My husband and I trust Dr. Yang completely knowing that we are in the best possible hands! We both are very grateful to our wonderful and very humble Dr. Gene W. Yang who keeps my husband strong and healthy! Dr. Yang practices Internal Medicine at the KP’s Point Loma location in San Diego.

I am a senior and have a medical program for the first time in over 20 years, since I finally just qualified for medicare. This relatively young doctor did a complete evaluation on me; even though he seemed rushed and under pressure from having to deal with two emergencies down the hall. I explained my assorted injuries and ailments to him; he made 4 referrals to specialists. There was confusion downstairs at the lab where he sent me for the heart EKG. They wanted to just take my blood, He had instructed me no blood test without 12 hr. fast. Dr. Gene offered to do some minor dermatology surgery to ice off my pre-cancer (keratosis ?) lesions on my forehead. I told him will wait on the specialist referrals. He explained the risks of GI exam and asked me to make choices as to method, etc. Waiting for about 40 to 50 minutes to see a doctor was made a lot more tolerable when two nurses came out at different times to announce any patient waiting for this doctor or that doctor,… please understand that doctor is behind schedule by 30 minutes to 45 minutes. That is a BIG help when you are sitting in a black hole just wondering when they will get to you, and how you can adjust your schedule the rest of the workday.
