Dr. Genia Bekker, MD

I have been going to this office for a few years now and was usually seeing a different doctor (there are two of them, both female). On this specific date I had an appointment for an ultrasound and was seen by Becker to discuss the results. However, I have started experiencing more than a few serious symptoms of perimenopause and was looking forward to speaking to Becker to advise me on Hormone Replacement Therapy and getting a baseline DEXA scan, as I have a family history of early menopause and osteoporosis. When I sat down to speak to her, she didn't bother looking up and making eye contact, just told me my ultrasound was fine. I proceeded to tell her I have some issues I'd like to discuss. To which she looked up and rolled her eyes. I explained all my symptoms to her and was very adamant that I have not slept well in over 4 months, have night sweats, hot flashes, cold flashes, my hair is falling out, I have weird new allergies, skin is always itchy, symptoms of depression, rashes… on my arms, dry skin, mood swings, missing periods, my back hurts all the time, and really need help getting my hormones in order. I also mentioned that I would like to get only bio-identical Hormone Replacement Therapy, and don't want/need to take birth control due to my age and family history. She rolled her eyes again and quickly wrote a prescription, for what I found out later from my pharmacist, was BIRTH CONTROL. She handed me the prescription and proceeded to get on with her business while I was still sitting in the chair across from her. I then asked her for a baseline DEXA scan, as I was really concerned due to family history and quickly progressing menopausal symptoms. She looked up at me and said she will not write a referral for it because I'm only 45 years old and she doesn't see my family history as a big enough reason for the insurance company to pay for this test. But then she added that if I still want it done, I could pay cash to her office, and they will do it on a different date. She also handed me her business card on which she wrote that she is willing to give me a $25 discount for the cash payment of the DEXA scan. I was so shocked that I walked out of her office without saying a word. A week later I found a different doctor who was attentive and understanding of my needs. I did get a full hormone panel blood test, which showed that I was very deep into perimenopause, even starting menopause based on my really low hormone levels across the board. I also got a DEXA scan, which showed that I already have osteopenia and need to address this ASAP. I'm starting my HRT treatment and looking forward to feeling better and healthier. I never write reviews, but this experience left me absolutely appalled at how disrespectful and unprofessional Becker behaved. And what's worse is that she is a middle-aged female herself, and her practice specializes in treating women of perimenopausal and menopausal age. To make matters worse, as I told my story to various people, they have mentioned having similar experiences of unprofessionalism and disrespect with the same doctor.

The staff is astoundingly rude in this office. I came in for my visit and the doctor did not see me after the test. I had further questions and wasn't allowed to see the doctor to address them. I tried to speak to the doctor again via phone and ask the question as well as a question regarding medication that I was prescribed without any discussion. Again, the receptionist is not letting that happen. There's no reason I have to go all the way there AGAIN to speak with the doctor since I was in the office the first time and was stopped from doing so. This is absolutely unacceptable and disgusting treatment of patients. I hope the doctor will address these issues and call. Otherwise, I would like proof that the receptionist is an MD.

Doctors Bekker and Akselrod performed a bilateral Salpingectomy on me several years ago. The purpose of that surgery was to maximize my chances to safely achieve pregnancy via IVF, since both my Fallopian tubes had chronic inflammation. After a total of 11 unsuccessful IVF cycles (2 of the latest using donor eggs), I had developed an ovarian cyst and was advised to have it surgically removed. To my utter disbelief I was informed by my current doctor that during the ovarian cystectomy surgery they discovered that a piece of chronically inflamed Fallopian tube was still there and was likely the reason all of our IVF attempts failed. Fortunately for Dr. Bekker and Dr. Akselrod, the statute of limitations for this negligence has expired. My reason for writing this review is hope to prevent such tragedy from happening to others. You will probably be safe if all you need is a routine pap smear test but for anything more serious do your research diligently and go elsewhere.

I have never been treated this way by another person. Staff is completely unprofessional and rude. They are unwilling to help and every time I go into this office I get treated like less than a person. Go here if you want to have the worst possible experience.

I will go through trouble of changing my insurance just not to see this doctor and her employees again. Worst medical office experience ever.

The lady who works on the front desk, was annoyed every time when patients came in to her there. All the time she was talking on the phone. She didn't put any efforts to assistant patients by answering questions and making me and other people wait. When I was invited to the doctor's office, Dr. Bekker was on the phone with security system guy. I tried to explain what bothered me and I had surgeries before, so I was there for reason. She didnt ask me any questions , besides my smoking habits and last day of my period. Cheked-up lasted less than 5 min. I even didnt realize it was finished, because I didnt asked any questions. Then was Ultra sound that showed I had a small tumors. Based on my medical history for me It is the sign. But the doctor seems in rush and told me it is nothing major and if my analyses were bad, some of the stuff would give me a call. A month later my roommate brought me a latter saying I have abnormal bla-bla-bla. I was so upset...Noone from doctors office… ever tried to contact me or reach me regarding this matter. People who work as doctors should be responsible and responsive !!!

I've been comin g to the office for a few years and have seen both doctors numerous times. They are quick and easy and call me promptly with results. Now, the staff is the reason I will no longer come here. There are two older women who work in the front who are disgusting to communicate with. I needed to cancel an appointment becuase it wasn't the right time of the month.. So I called to reschedule it. This old lady/whoever will do ANYTHING to belittle you. She said she won't make me any appointment for a MONTH, and when I gave in and asked for an appointment a month later she said no. Obviously I was confused so I wanted to clear up the confusion and she continued belittling me and talking over me and telling me it's my own fault for canceling today. Then I asked if I could speak to the doctor and if she's in yet her response "well what do you think you had an appointment with her today" so I said can I speak to her and she said "no she's not in." Honestly you can drive a persons… nerves wild speaking to someone lIke this. I understand if someone's in a bad mood, but this isn't the first time I've been disrespected by them and kept my mouth shut. They make it seem like they're doing you a favor by talking to you...

Missed an STI that was ob my bloodwork that i went in 3 times for and finally my pcp found it and treated me. I called to confront her and she didn't care. If you want substandard care you must go to this place!!

Dr. Becker, performed a leep surgery under main anestisia . I am now more than 6 monthes later with good results from the surgery. Im now going to have another surgery, and i trust Dr. Bekker, because she cares.!
