I appreciated that Dr. Marecek took his time with me, examined me thoroughly, and watched me walk. I felt listened to and did not feel rushed. I sought his opinion because I have had persistent symptoms following a calcaneus fracture and had received differing recommendations about how to proceed. I was hoping for a comprehensive assessment of the injury before making decisions about possible surgery. Dr. Marecek discussed the fracture itself and the possibility of fixation with a small plate and screw, but the ligament injury and whether it could be contributing to my ongoing symptoms were not discussed until I raised an opinion I had received from another physician. At that point, he recommended a colleague with more expertise in that area, which I appreciated. I would have valued consideration of the bone, ligament injury, and overall mechanics together before discussing surgical treatment, or guidance beforehand to the specialist best suited to evaluate the injury comprehensively.

Dr. Marecek was very good at listening and answering my questions. He explained the type of injury I had and what I should do to help it heal quickly. The only thing he didn't do was examine my knee without a bandage wrapped around it, which I thought he probably should have. Other than that, I thought he was excellent.

I visited Dr. Marecek three times. Each time he seemed very uninterested in really helping me heal. He just went through the routine, ordered x rays and tests, and told me it could be a variety of different things. His approach to remedies was basically trial and error, and when one thing didn't work he just proposed trying another thing. His attitude was very blase, as though he had better things to do at the moment. Not what one would want from a doctor at all.
