Dr. George Al Shamy, MD

I was told I needed a referral for my PCP, which I got with the stat order as well. His office totally refuses to provide me with an appointment after multiple calls and even complain, complaining to my insurance company, which called them as well. It says he’s taking new patients so I’m wondering how he likes the ones that he’s not gonna take?

I haven’t seen him yet so I can’t say how good he is but I’m having a difficult time getting an appointment. I know my problem and condition and just wanted a consult but his staff made me do imaging just to talk to him. Anyway I did the imaging and still can’t get an appointment the girl scheduling said his staff will contact me but that never happened!

I had a delicate ACDF surgery C5-7..performed by him Aug 3 2021. I woke up symptom free and almost totally pain free. His incredible skills, character, kindness, humbleness and caring are unheard of these days. Within 4 weeks I was back to with full time. At 6 weeks I was back to the gym. (69 years old) This neurosurgeon is one of a kind. He’s patient, he listens, he cares, he’s funny, he’s spiritual, he’s confident, he’s a lucky find. Look no further if your contemplating delicate and critical neck or back surgery. I researched for months prior to surgery and heard from many patients of his who were beyond satisfied.

Two weeks ago, Dr Al Shamy performed surgery to remove my Pituitary adenoma . Everything went perfect… no pain, short recovery period, no side effects. After the surgery he went to see my husband and explain about the surgery. My husband was very impressed by dr AlShamy as well. He came every day, while I was in hospital to check on me, explained me about the surgery. He made me feel special. I would highly recommend him and his team.

I was in Memorial Hermann The Woodlands and Dr. George Al Shamy was one of the doctors assigned to my case. I have a broken vertebrae in my back. Upon release I was told to schedule a follow up visit with him to ensure my broken back was healing properly. I’ve called his office to set that appointment three times and keep getting “we will need to call you back”. I don’t know this Doctor, but if I were him, I’d fire my entire staff as they have completely dropped the ball. The patient care and follow up is TERRIBLE! Just based on that alone, I give them a 1 star rating. If I could go lower I would. Way to show that you care for your patients.

About 2 1/2 years ago Dr. Al Shamy performed neck surgery, at that time found him to be a caring Doctor and easy to work with. Fast forward to now, I called for an appointment and the nurse sir you cannot see Dr. Al Shamy without an MRI, I arranged to have the MRI completed on a Friday and the results was sent to his office. I called on a Wednesday and the nurse informed me he only reads MRI's on Thursday morning and that the office would call Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. That was three weeks ago. Since it appears this Dr. is too busy perhaps he can recommend a Dr. that is not to busy to see a patient.

I went to Dr Al Shamy for a second opinion. He was extremely thorough, and he went over all my tests with me, and he showed me on my images exactly why I was having pain. He performed surgery on my lumbar spine earlier this week. He has always made me feel that I am a priority. I would highly recommend him.

If you don't fit into what he thinks is healthy, in other words, if you don't look a certain way, he will not treat you justly. Very arrogant, young doctor with lots to learn about talking to patients.

He is awesome loved his bedside manner. He is very knowledgeable. Wonderful doctor
