Not enough time for patients, outside doctors give you information (in my case dangerous) & very costly mistakes. - 2nd colonoscopy results were given to me by an unknown doctor that told me to come back in 5 years. I had to tell him that I had a polyp removed in the 1st one and have a family history. - I had 2 telehealth calls that I left work early to take and both started with a random doctor trying to diagnose me and then after that the doctor called 4 hours late on the 1st one and 2 1/2 hours late on the 2nd. - Dr. Atia sent me for some new "different" types of tests that I already had 2 months earlier. Now I'm stuck with a $2000 bill for tests that already had answers. - My decision to never go back was when I got a reminder call about my in office (took 6 weeks to get in person) appointment and they asked me if I ever went and got the tests done!

They confused my insurance with the wrong company and screwed up a large insurance claim, delaying it by almost a month. It took many phone calls to clear up. They also failed to schedule my appointment at the correct office, failed to inform me when the office had moved, The staff is incompetent. They also failed to schedule my appointment at the correct office, failed to inform me when the office had moved, didn't charge me correctly for my copay, and then the doctor is always at least an hour late. HORRIBLE experience.

The first time I met Dr. Atia was for a procedure, and that was alright, not great, but he got the job done. I felt lucky because I've heard he's had complications with procedures before. Follow-ups with Dr. Atia are pretty bad though. If I could describe his character best for whoever is reading, I would say this: he doesn't seem to care about my health and well-being, he just cares about getting paid. Below I'll discuss why I feel this way, but overall, you just need to know that he and his clinic left a bad impression on me. 1) Dr. Atia didn't value my time. Based off of most of the reviews on here, he doesn't seem to value most people's time, to be honest. I was scheduled to see him for an appointment and didn't see him for well over an hour into our scheduled time. Then when I finally see him, we only spoke for less than 5 minutes, then when we finally get to talk, it's like he can't wait to leave, which brings me to my next point. 2) When you talk to him, he's dying to… leave the room. Dr. Atia's body language and tone signify a strong desire to just leave when you speak to him. It made me feel like I'm stupid somehow for being sick and like I was wasting his time. That made me feel like my health was not valued. 3) His diagnosis was inconsistent. I won't get specific, but yes, he did diagnose me with one condition, then told me I had something else, then said I had something different again, then he acted like the new thing I had was what he was saying I had the whole time. 4) His managerial ability must be pretty weak. I say this because the desk staff is unresponsive. I can't even get a simple refill for my prescription from these people. Look, I know I give some harsh criticism, but honestly, given the fact that this is the health of human beings at stake here, I'd say my harsh criticism is warranted for such crappy service. At the beginning of my review, I said Dr. Atia seems more interested in patient dollars rather than patients themselves, and I hope he and his clinic take action to prove me wrong because patients don't deserve the incompetence, lack of communication and absence of concern that Dr. Atia and his clinic have shown me.

I have known Dr. Atia for a number of years. I find him to be a very good doctor who knows his specialty well. He takes his time w/ you & answers all your questions. His weakness is that he runs behind schedule & you can really wait, if you're a late afternoon patient. I see him in the Chicago office.

First visit with Dr Atia went well, he was very receptive and informative, although he never examined me. Scheduled a procedure only to be told the day before not covered by insurance. The office staff is horrible, gives misinformation, does not listen, your time is not valued. A complete waste of time and resources. I have never experienced such malfeasance from a medical staff. Beware!!

Although we met with Dr Atia before the procedure and he agreed to perform a screenning colonoscopy, he coded it incorrectly -- resulting in over $300 of additional charges not normally covered by health insurance. His Billing clerk TERRY was completely unhelpful and insisted that I didn't know what I was taking about and that a mistake was not possible. The billing manager OSCAR was also a total jerk and would not agree to resubmit the claim with the correct coding even though BCBSIL did already agree to pay it. BCBSIL eventually agreed to pay the covered charges in spite of his bad actions and improper (fraud?) medical coding. I later found a colleague who had a similar bad experience, and they are still hounding him for a $5.00 charge. Avoid DR ATIA and the ILLINOIS CENTER for DIGETIVE & LIVER HEALTH at all costs (literally).
