Meet Dr. Economy
George Economy, DMD
Welcome to our practice! I truly love being a dentist, as it allows me to work with and treat a wide variety of different people. Florence is my hometown, and I am passionate about providing local families with the highest level of dental care in a warm, friendly atmosphere.
Education and Continuing Education
I attended the Medical University of South Carolina for my dental education. I have been practicing dentistry for over 25 years, and love that my profession is always evolving and becoming more comfortable for patients. In order to ensure that I am always offering the most effective treatments available, I take many hours of continuing education courses and seminars each year.
As a part of my continuing education, I attend the Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting, the South Carolina Dental Association Annual Session and Pee Dee District Meetings. I am also an active member of the Florence County Dental Society, the American Dental Association, and …the Academy of General Dentistry. I enjoy learning something new at each meeting, as well as discussing difficult or unusual cases with fellow professionals.
Professional Dedication
It is extremely satisfying to be able to love what you do for a living. I enjoy providing treatment for patients that is centered on their dental health goals. From helping someone with jaw function to a cosmetic procedure, my goal is to provide each patient with the services that fulfill their needs.
My patients are also my friends and neighbors, and I think of each person who visits us as part of my extended family. Because I care so much for my patients, I am a perfectionist about the quality of care I provide. A healthy mouth is a happy mouth, and part of my job is making sure my patients maintain optimal oral health for a lifetime.
Family Life
I was born and raised here in Florence, and have been practicing dentistry in our community since graduating from dental school. My lovely wife, Athena, and I have two wonderful children named Phyllis and Paul. We also have two dogs, a golden retriever named Buddy, and a labrador retriever, Drake.
In my spare time, I am a real sports enthusiast, and enjoy swimming, bicycling, and watching college football. My children are also involved in sports, and I love watching them play tennis, soccer, baseball, football, and basketball! I have been involved in artistic endeavors, including community theatre as well as directing the choir at my church for many years.
Recently, our city hosted a statewide dental community service event ,"DADS", or Dental Access Days, where I participated with dentists from all over our state in providing dentistry at no cost to those in need.
