Dr. George Bernard Elvove, MD

You have to take the good with the bad, and every practice has its high and low points. Dr. Elvove delivered 2 or my children, and his patience, gentleness and overall calm demeanor was a blessing. He also has a relaxed, 'lets wait and see' atitude, which I find reassuring, because most of what we worry about is nothing, and panic and over prescribing are dangerous, in my opinion. I had read on another threat that a patient felt judged because she couldn't breast feed...I don't make enough milk either, even went to a lacation counselor, just not enough, and honestly, they can be a little uptight. Another poster complained about Cathy. Well, she wasn't my favorite in the office, but she's still competent and good at what she does. Lastly, his common sense approach to vaccines is superb. An infant is 99% unlikely to come into contact with Hep B, so why are we vaccianting newborns for this disease, wait until the child is in 5th grade, the age before they might engage in risky… behaviors that could transmit the virus...calm, common sense, kind.

I really wanted to like Dr. Elvove but sadly we're not impressed. After many, many visits to diagnose an issue for my child we were given a referral to another sub-par provider who gave no answers. Within a week of switching to a new pediatrician the issues were resolved. The nurse, Cathy, is condescending and lectures you to no end. I was, more than once, made to feel like a worry-wort of a mother when the issues I was addressing were, very much, something to be concerned about - then when bringing my child in, she said "I can't believe you didn't bring him/her in sooner!"I experienced painful complications with breastfeeding and was almost denied an appointment because the nurse on call "didn't believe it was an issue.Needless to say we did not feel like our needs were met, repeatedly. I won't even get started on my labor/delivery experience...

Dr. Elvove is an amazing Doctor. All doctors should take his philosophy about patient and doctor working together to get back to health. He takes the time to get to know YOU as a person. He takes nothing for granted. He is also well balanced with natural remedies when needed. I would highly reccommend him. He was there for for all 4 of my daughters births (3 of them at home!!!) I am blessed to know him.

I was excited to find a vaccine friendly doctor and quite impressed when interviewing Dr. Elvove as a potential pediatrician. What I was not impressed with was that I was not informed upfront that I would be charged for an office visit for a 10 minute consultation, nor was I informed this at the conclusion of the interview. A month later after that interview, an insurance claim was filed which was coded as Preventative Maintenance/Risk Factor Counseling. I contacted Dr. Elvove's office and said that I thought I had been mistakenly billed for a service I did not receive. The gal in the office who answered the phone was extremely rude and said "we do NOTHING for free" and that it was my fault for EXPECTING something for nothing. Had this claim been coded properly by Dr. Elvove's office staff, my insurance would cover it. Instead of listening to my concern, they belittled me. I have no desire for my family to be any part of this practice. BEWARE....
