Dr. George James Florakis, MD

I highly recommend Dr. Florakis. He has been monitoring my cornea condition for years, Fuchs Dystrophy. It’s usually gets worse with time and mine did just that. The remedy is a partial transplant. A procedure that goes by the acronym DMEK. Why did I choose Dr. Florakis to do the surgery? He limits his practice to the cornea. He has years of experience. He takes a conservative approach to selecting cornea donor tissue and to his recovery protocol. He teaches - young doctors join him on his examinations to learn and he shares his knowledge at seminars and in publications. He is personable and alway takes time to answer my many questions. His staff is great - a special shout out to Kelly, a surgery coordinator. The surgery is with hands and tools. Mine was a success. At this writing, I am 4 weeks out from surgery and my vision in the surgery eye is much sharper and brighter. Time can improve that. Dr. Florakis has developed his own cornea surgery tool called the Florakis endothelial… forceps. Now that’s dedication to the practice. He will be doing my other eye when the time comes.

When my vision kept deteriorating after Lasik surgery, my regular ophthalmologist referred me to Dr. Florakis for a new vision procedure that could help me. He sent me to the best but I was disappointed that the next available appointment was almost 6 weeks away. My regular eye Doctor would not recommend anyone else. At my appointment, I found a courteous staff, and extremely thorough Doctors working with Dr. Florakis . Dr. Florakis explained the tests' results and next steps. He clearly and patiently answered my questions. I wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone with cornea issues.

Dr Florakis is an excellent doctor in every way. The wait time can vary from none to 2 hours, because if he gets an emergency he takes it. I respect him for that, and have used his services on an emergency basis in the past. I trust him with my vision.

Dr Florakis treats you like a human being and has great bedside manners. Nevermind that he is a top doctor but to get that with a great attitude, personal attention, great communication and a sense of humor is special. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

I HAD A CORNEAL TRANSPLANT ABOUT 20 YEARS AGO AND IT TOTALLY CHANGED MY LIFE FOR THE BETTER. I WAS ABOUT 90% BLIND IN THE LEFT EYE , AFTER SURGERY MY VISION IMPROVED TO 20/30 . I STILL HAVE GRAT VISION IN THE EYE . THANK YOU DR FLORAKIS , THANK YOU DR ROEL !!
