Dr. George Carlton Gilbert, MD

Dr. Gilbert is judgmental, and condescending. My daughter was forced to see him because she had pain that could not be helped except with morphine. Although we didn't know it at the time, my daughter was suffering with Pancreatitis from being prescribed Depakote for 27 years. I only learned this after her death. He refused to accept any diagnosis except addiction. I'm a CADC, and my daughter was NOT addicted. After giving us the run-a-round for a couple of years he indicated that Opiate addiction was in her chart. We were shocked and told him that it needed to be removed because she was not an addict. He said nothing (as usual) and when my daughter ended up being hospitalized a few months before her death I heard him giving his dictation and in his report he stated "Still working under the parameters of addiction" Again, she was not addicted to anything. As a result he restricted her pain medication (all the while knowing that she was dyeing) during her last 3 months of her life in… the hospital. He also did not tell us that she was terminal. He was vague or downright evasive when we asked questions. During her last ER visit (my daughter was in extreme pain) he showed up at the ER. When I saw him, at first, I was relived and hoped that he would address her pain...instead he walked directly in, circled around me, placed his hand on the forehead of my daughter and said "God bless you" and walked out of the room...Just like he was the pope!!! Needless to say my daughter suffered at the hands of Dr. Gilbert simply because he chose to think of her as an addict even though we told him that the diagnosis was incorrect. And all of the other reports are true also, when you came to see him it was, at least, a 3 hr. wait. I actually read a full paperback book during one wait time while my daughter and I were in his office. I only accompanied her since he would not answer any of her questions when she was alone...sadly, he didn't change his behaviors even when I was there...He should lose his license.

Caring. Appointments take at least two hours, every time. I stopped requesting first appointment of the day because I would wait in the waiting room and staff would say he’s still at hospitals seeing inpatients . Negative Labs, testing, imaging is never reported to the patient. He really runs his practice as his ministry. He is kind. He will go out of his way taking care of issues the patient has in his office. Unfortunately he is taking the physician and nurse role because when there are things a nurse is capable to do he does them anyway. If you have a family or jobs, etc that you need a doctor visit 30 minutes in and out you will never have this with Dr.Gilbert. If you are retired and have all the time in the world he’s your man. As long as you find a way to look up your lab results at home because if you don’t, no one will

Worried more about his ego than anything.

Dr. Gilbert is knowledgeable, thorough, and compassionate. The staff is also caring and helpful. Worth the wait!

Dr. Gilbert is condescending and arrogant. He is a self-appointed expert who expects the world to revolve around him. I believe that he is uncaring and removed from his patient's needs.

He is thorough.

This doctor reflects what the medical profession should be. There is nothing like knowing that you can trust the doctor caring for you. I wish all medical students had to observe him before they were certified so they could see this example of what they should strive for! Grateful he is in Peoria.

All around good dr.

Granted yes, Dr Gilbert takes time with his patients and shows that he truly cares about why your there HOWEVER, he needs a COMPLETELY different methodology for how he runs his office. He literally should only be allowed to see 5 patients a day because when your appt is at 2:30, expect to be there until 8pm. You wait for at least 2 hours in the waiting room, then when you are called back, you wait at least 1 hour to see Doc, then he takes about 1 and a half hours with your actual appointment. So yeah, that should be surveyed by the Department so that his practice gets an idea of why people get so upset. So, unless you don't mind being at the doctors office for 6+ hours.. I would NOT recommend this guy. Period. I had an appt tonight at 5:30 and didn't leave until 9:30pm. I even went to the cafeteria and back and ate dinner, watched a whole movie on my phone, and Facebooked before I was seen. Great doctor, horrible at running his office.

Dr.gilbert is the worse dr.i have ever had!!He is a bully and will punish you for not doing the "right" thing..Its his way or no way!!You have no voice in his office if you try to hebwill correct you n say it how he wants you to say something..Its ridiculous..also the wait time is anywhere from 2-4hrs to get in a room then when you get in the room its another 2-6 hrs before seeing him..Done with this dr..going to find a new one asap!!!
