Dr. George J Halko, DO

My mother was a patient of Dr. Halko’s. She called in to discuss some concerns about her medication, and the lady at the front desk, I believe Dr. Halko’s nurse and wife, put the phone down and said to him “it’s the big fat lazy lady who doesn’t do anything we tell her to do.” I do know if she meant to mute herself or if she just felt that ballsy to say that knowing my mom could hear her describe her in that way. I called and spoke with Dr. Halko to report the incident. He didn’t deny it, and while he apologized he didn’t seem overly concerned about it. I told him that he has lost a patient and that I hope that never happens again. That fact that she feels comfortable describing patients in that way in the office is completely inappropriate and unprofessional, and I want to make sure people know what type of business this is.

Horrible experience. Dr Halko ordered bloodwork which he never checked, it sehould have been flagged and brought to my attention which he did not do. When I asked him why he didn’t check the bloodwork he ordered he was dismissive and said your GP would have eventually found out. Complained to insurance company, they said he was wrong for not checking and informing me. He had me go for extensive expensive and painful nerve testing when having a simple X-ray first would have shown problem.

I'm not a fan of handing a blank check to anyone, including a physician. There needs to be some accountability. 1. Post-op care is not included in the surgery costs, but required 2. The estimate for surgery is going to be wrong in favor of the doctor (but it's never their fault) of course 3. The billing ladies are snarky and keep repeating their scripts 4. They are charging a service charge when a patient pays with the care credit card, which I'm pretty sure is illegal.

Excellent doctor. First doctor able to actually test me for Fibromyalgia. Finally, a diagnosis, so that I can begin a proper treatment. He really listens to you and tries to help and he's extremely knowledgeable.
