Dr. George Joseph Herr, MD

I've been seeing Dr. Herr for at least 13 years now for my epilepsy and he's helped me get them controlled and keep them that way. He's very knowledgeable and communicates why he does certain things and prescribes certain drugs do you know exactly what it's doing and why he feels it's the best direction to go at the time. He's the best! I can't recommend him enough!

I am surprised by the negative comments included in this review. I just met him and did not feel he was derogatory towards me as a woman. He spoke open and frankly with me which is what I needed to hear after years of searching for a good neurologist. He explained my situation to me in a way that I could understand and he plotted out a course of treatment, taking my suggestions as we went along. I found him to be a wonderful neurologist. If all you want to hear is the flowery talk like the other neurologists give, you will not like Dr. Herr.

If you are a female, Dr. Herr is not the doctor for you! He made numerous demeaning comments. He told me that I didn’t have a real job (I’m a stay at home mom.) so it didn’t matter that I was in constant pain. That’s just one of the many sexist remarks he made. During one visits he told me he thought I had a rare disease and when I asked for more details he told me to go home and google it. I did and found out it was terminal. I called his office twice wanting more information and they kept telling me someone would call me back, but no one ever did. Then at my next appointment he was over an hour late, and as I sat in the exam room waiting, he rudely yelled at his female staff in the hall outside the door. He told them that they needed to stop bothering him with phone calls from patients because it wasn’t his job to talk to patients. He said that he was too important for that. I listened to him yell for about 10 minutes while I sat waiting. He then came in and told me the computer was… down and that he couldn’t treat me at all. He couldn’t remember anything about me even though I had been seeing him for months. I sat begging him for help because I was in so much pain from neuropathy issues (again something already diagnosed by another doctor) and he said I probably had fibromyalgia but that it wasn’t a real disease it was just what doctors used to describe females that complained about pain too much. He then walked out of the room as I was trying to get more information from him. As I hobbled after him (I have severe SI Joint and other spinal issues being thankfully treated by another doctor) pleading for just a few moments of his time, he then prescribed me a medication that I was already using. I can’t express enough how horrible my experience was with this doctor. He brags about how experienced he is, but he couldn’t even help me with migraines that I have had since I was a child and had already been diagnosed with numerous times. He never even got around to addressing them. I found another doctor and it turns out I have Lupus and not any of the diseases he said I had. My new doctor said with my obvious malar rash and list of symptoms that an experienced doctor should have been able to figure it out right away.

Dr. Herr was very professional, yet very caring & honest with us during visit. We found him to be very helpful with our questions & was very co-operative with us. He made good suggestions for trying to help us.We highly recommend this doctor!

Dr. Herr's assistant was extremely rude and he is not a compassionate person. I WOULD NOT recommend this MD to anyone as he appears not to understand/comprehend and or believe what you are telling him.

came in expecting someone to listen and actually believe my symptoms were real and important. left there repeatedly insulted and disappointed with the whole waste of time and energy. can anyone really find a good doctor!?
