I can’t comment on Dr. Mueller’s surgical expertise as we didn’t make it that far. This is re: his consultation. My husband sought a consult for gastric sleeve surgery with him which barely took 30 min? I later learned through a health care provider relative, it should’ve been at least an hour. After this, I felt the office and Sharp were way too hasty like a machine “cattle call,” that I talked my husband into seeking a 2nd opinion. So I googled best bariatric surgeons in the SD area, Dr. Mueller’s name was not on that list. In the interim, many friends had asked why new weight loss drugs hadn’t been suggested and recommended he talk to his GP about trying the least invasive option first before going through a difficult surgery that could come with serious side effects. We did and so far, my husband is having stellar results on Rybelsus & he didn’t have to suffer through the pre or post-op of weightless surgery. In our opinion, all options should be weighed and offered before… someone takes on a life altering invasive procedure like bariatric surgery. My husband was shocked the doctor never once suggested or offered this option. Furthermore, I was seeing these folks in & out of the office putting down payments for procedures when we were checking out. If that doesn’t tell you something about this provider and this practice. Otherwise the staff and provider were polite.

It has been numeral years since my surgery and I'm constantly sick. I had the gastric sleeve surgery with this Dr and i am really regretting it. I stay sick all the time. All the healthy foods i eat i throw up constantly but the sugar based foods i can hold plenty of which is causing me much and often weight gain. But more importantly I'm always sick to my stomach. I can hold very small portions of healthy foods which i should have but sugar based food give me no problems going down but plenty of weight gaining problems. I feel this surgery was of no practical benefit to me and neither the Dr. or his staff has cared to assist. I am just experiencing more ongoing regrets.

My husband was scheduled for surgery and they called and said they had confirmed our insurance for them as well as the hospital. He had the surgery and then we were billed by the hospital at 32,000 dollars yikes!! I called the hospital and they said that in the paperwork they were told by staff at Dr. Muellers that they had already authorized the hospital. They had done nothing. They lied to me over the phone saying they spoke to someone at Aetna which was a lie. Now they will not return my calls regarding this and we are stuck! Do not go here if at all possible.

Tore me open like a wild cat. I had to have total rectal surgery completely over again plus some Thank you very much. If I wasn't so sick I would have sued him for being so unconcerned and careless.

I had my choice of surgeons and I am so happy that I picked Dr. Mueller. Thank you all for giving me my life back.

He is absolutely and completely amazing! Anyone upset about a wait time or crowded classes should be more concerned with the obesity statistics in the united states! If not for that maybe the classes wouldn't be so packed. Not Dr Muellers fault he has so many lives to save.

Dr. Muller performed a Gastric Lapband on me 3 years ago and my results have been poor which I believe stems from the lack of follow up and ongoing care. His office offers exercise classes and group meeting which are held at 5 PM on Monday's and difficult to attend, they are also very large which complicates that one on one time to really teach and help someone with a lapband to learn how to use their tool properly. In hindsight I wished I'd choosen a different Doctor's Office.
